Year-End Praise
Dear Partners,
As 2016 comes to an end, it is an excellent time to reflect on the Lord’s goodness and provision to Word of Messiah Ministries in the past year. As we look back on 2016, we want to give God the glory for the following:
Praise the Lord for many accomplishments this year:
3 successful "Developing Healthy Messianic Congregations" conferences in Phoenix, AZ, Richmond, VA, and Brooklyn, NY, training over 80 individuals in their congregation planting efforts.
Fruitful time in England this past September as Sam was the keynote speaker for the British Messianic Jewish Alliance’s 150th anniversary celebration, as well as did training for one congregation plant in London.
Back in January, Sam and Miriam were able to build up believers in Israel with various conferences and speaking engagements, as well as assisting leaders from various Messianic congregations.
The Lord opened over 60 doors to engage churches in God’s burden for the lost sheep of the House of Israel, and to share the Gentile calling to make Israel Jealous for Messiah.
Prayer for upcoming events:
Trip to Israel in January 2017: Sam will be conducting a training conference on discipleship for national leaders in Tel Aviv, as well as ministering to youth leaders from various congregations, and assisting leaders in planting more congregations in the land.
We have 3 "Developing Healthy Messianic Congregations" conferences lined up for 2017: Tampa, FL (Feb. 2017), Columbus, OH (June 2017), and Chicago, IL (Oct. 2017). Pray for new planters to be sent out.
Training up churches in their calling to the Jew first and for believers to have a greater burden for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. We have 41 meetings scheduled so far for 2017, pray for more open doors. (If your church would be interested in inviting Sam, please contact us ASAP, as slots are filling up).
Miriam is currently working on a book with anticipated 2017 release. Sam also has 2 new publications in the works (pray for editing help).
We also want to praise the Lord for your faithful prayers and giving on this Ministry’s behalf in the past year. May 2017 bear even greater fruit for Messiah’s Kingdom, as we press on in His Name.
In His grip,
Sam Nadler

Your prayers and support are invaluable as we share the Good News, establish healthy Messianic congregations, and equip the Body of Messiah around the world in our shared calling to bring the Good News of Yeshua "to the Jew 1st and also to the Gentile."

Hanukkah in Scripture
Though many believers may not take much notice when they see this Jewish holiday on the calendar, we find in the book of John that Yeshua did not see it this way; in fact, He celebrated it!

Hanukkah in Scripture by Sam Nadler

Hanukkah. Though many believers may not take much notice when they see this Jewish holiday on the calendar, we find in the book of John that Yeshua did not look at it this way; in fact, He celebrated it!
“At that time the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) took place at Jerusalem; it was winter, and Yeshua was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon. The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, ‘How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.’” (John 10:22-24)
Here, John makes it very clear that this event took place during the Feast of Hanukkah. Hanukkah comes from the Hebrew word hanakh which means “to dedicate,” and so in English it is called the “Feast of Dedication,” commemorating the time when the Maccabees led Israel in the purification and rededication of the Temple after its desecration by the Syrians in 168 BCE.
But why did John see it as so important to mention Hanukkah in this passage? Remember what Paul says in 2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable…” When we understand the context of John 10, we better understand this passage, for when the people asked Yeshua, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly,” they were really wondering, “Where is the Messiah, the greater Maccabee? The people were expecting Messiah to be a political warrior to throw out the Romans, just as the Maccabees had thrown out the Syrians. They did not realize that Messiah had come for a much greater purpose: to demonstrate God’s faithfulness as He fulfilled God’s promise given to Abraham and his descendants (Gen. 12:3).

The Savior from God
So, rather than saying, “Yes, I’m Him!” Yeshua answered: “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s Name, these testify of Me. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep.” (John 10:25-26)
With a mere “yes,” Yeshua would have been accommodating Himself to the people’s narrow expectation heightened at the time – only part of the full biblical picture to come later. To say “no” would have been a lie. So Yeshua wisely responds, “I’ve already told you.” In both word and deed, He had already answered their question (John 8:58; 10:25).
God provides the eternal salvation that we need, not merely the temporary solutions we desire. Is your faith in God’s Word, or in your own expectations and experience? Like Job, true faith sees beyond the immediate and trusts God’s wisdom and care: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him!” (Job 13:15).
With the Maccabees, short-term faith was required. They pointed to a temple desecrated by an oppressive Syrian regime and said, “Let us defeat them and rededicate the temple!” However, Yeshua points directly at each of us and says that we are the ‘desecrated temple,’ who need to be cleansed and rededicated in order to walk with God. The problem, O Israel, is not outside of you, but within you. Our need is not for a quick fix of short-term problems, but for an eternal relationship with God!
The Shepherd to God
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give unto them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:27-28)
His sheep have faith in Him: “My sheep hear My voice.” His sheep are His followers: “They follow Me.” There is mutual recognition and a reciprocal action. The shepherd knows and directs His sheep and the sheep respond in obedience. Messiah guarantees eternal life to His followers. People do not always understand what eternal life is. Some think that their eternal rest will be in their coffin! Passing a cemetery one day, an Irishman paused at a startling inscription on one tombstone. He read the words: “I still live.” Puzzled, the Irishman scratched his head for a moment, then exclaimed: “Goodness, if I were dead, I’d be honest enough to admit it!”
Eternal life comes from God by faith in Yeshua, who alone can relate us rightly to the eternal God. Furthermore, eternal life is a new kind of existence for believers. It is God’s own life. Through Yeshua, the fullness of God dwells within us—and His life will never end! God is immortal; those who believe in Yeshua will live on with Him. Messiah then teaches that we must have faith in Him as the Son of God:
The Son of God
“My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one” (John 10:29-30).
Yeshua’s assertion that He is one with the Father is meant to give assurance to His followers: “No one will snatch them from My hand” anymore than from the “Father’s hand.” Defeat is measuring your life by the size of your problem; victory is measuring life’s challenges by the size of your God! God has provided salvation in Messiah, His Eternal Son. By dying for sins, He conquered death.
Despite temporary trials, there is ultimate victory in Messiah. Yes, Messiah demands a greater loyalty than the Maccabees, because He provides greater security. Trust in Him as the Savior, Shepherd, and Son. Yeshua is the Victor, and following Him brings the victory!

A Personal Perspective on Praying for Israel
Over the years, through the ministry trips we have been privileged to take, we have seen remarkable growth across Israels landscape of believers...

A Personal Perspective on Praying for Israel by Miriam Nadler

In the early 70’s, I had the life changing opportunity of studying in Israel for a year. During this time, I reached out to fellow students with the Good News and was a part of the Messianic Congregation that was then developing in Jerusalem. I was in my mid-twenties, single, and enthralled with this year of living in the Land. (Yes, this was before Sam and I ever met!)
Since those days, on each of the many ministry trips we have been privileged to take, I have seen remarkable growth across Israel’s landscape of believers. This wonderful transformation is inspiring to me, and as I share about it with you, my hope is twofold. First, I desire to encourage you to join us in praying for specific needs we see today in Israel, and secondly, to ask that you pray for us and the outreaches that Word of Messiah is planning as we return to Israel in early 2017.
During my year in Israel, I could count the number of Messianic Congregations in the entire country on one hand. Now, 46 years later, the Lord is continuing to build His testimony in the Land. According to several news sources, today there are over 150 Messianic Congregations in Israel where Jew and Gentile meet together to worship the Messiah of Israel and Savior of the world. These include congregations of all sizes; some meet in their own buildings and others meet in home groups. Regardless of size, these congregations can be found in every city and most every town and are having great impact on their surrounding communities as living testimonies of Yeshua’s love and power to change lives and families.
Today, the great majority of Israelis who are ethnically Jewish are agnostic or atheistic in their religious beliefs. However, many are desirous for authentic faith and are searching for the source of true peace. When an Israeli sees the love of Messiah in the life of a believer they are drawn to Yeshua.
Here are a few specific ways you can be praying for our brothers and sisters in Israel:
Pray for the leaders of the Messianic Congregations of Israel, along with their families:
As you are praying for the people of Israel be sure to pray for these congregations who are proclaiming the Good News to their local communities. Be praying especially for the leadership of these groups as Satan desires not only to destroy the leaders but attack their families as well. Pray that each member of their families would be strengthened in the LORD and that each leader would have His wisdom to lead their flock.
Pray for the children and teenagers in these various believing communities.
Many of the children and young people in Israel’s Messianic Congregations are now from second or third-generation believing homes. Pray that each one would not merely depend on their parents’ faith, but would accept Yeshua as their personal Savior and have His strength to live courageously in a Land that is often hostile to Messianic believers.
Pray for the believing soldiers serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)
All Israelis, men ages 18 to 21 and women ages 18 to 20, are required to do some form of military or community service. This means that thousands of Messianic Israelis – Jewish and non-Jewish men and women – have shared in the Israeli army experience at one time or another. Pray for the believing soldiers who are currently serving, that their witness for Yeshua will be a beacon of hope to those around them. Also pray for their safety as soldiers are one of the main targets of the terrorists who seek to kill and destroy.
“While it has been relatively quiet in the last few months compared to several stabbings a day for the last year, Israeli soldiers and citizens are still being targeted. Palestinian children are still being taught to hate Jews and fight them. To put it in Golda Meir’s words, ‘Peace will only come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.’” (From Maoz Israel’s November Newsletter)
This winter, Word of Messiah will be returning to Israel where we will have multiple opportunities to minister. Please join us in prayer for these specific requests:
Pray for the seminar with Maoz Israel in Tel Aviv where Sam will be teaching congregational leaders and their wives from all over Israel: pray that they will be strengthened and equipped in their ministries as shepherds, especially in the area of discipling the next generation.
Pray for our ministry to individual congregations in Haifa and the Galilee as we help them with particular needs and areas of growth.
Pray as we’ll be ministering to various youth leaders from various congregations. These leaders minister to the young people who are preparing for and presently serving in the IDF.
Finally, pray as we meet with a conference for congregation planters especially in the Galilee, to address the issues that can hinder outreach and growth.
We are so thankful to be a part of reaching out with the Gospel in Israel and blessed to be able to build up the believers in the land. We are especially thankful for your continued prayers and support that make this possible. Let’s join together with the passion of Paul’s heart for his people in praying: “Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for Israel is for their salvation!”- Romans 10:1
