Who are the Missionaries?
We have talked about the mission of the church, and who the mission is. We know the people in our lives who need to be part of a faith community that offers a message of love, that is not exclusive but open to people of all walks of life.
As we come to the conclusion of our series, Church on a Mission, we face the question of who is God calling...? Looking at the passage from Luke 10:1 Now after these things, the Lord also appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of him* into every city and place, where he was about to come. 2 Then he said to them, “The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest. 3  Go your ways. Behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4  Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way. 5  Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house.’ 6  If a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. 7  Remain in that same house, eating and drinking the things they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Don’t go from house to house. 8  Into whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat the things that are set before you. 9  Heal the sick who are therein, and tell them, ‘God’s Kingdom has come near to you.’(Messianic WEB), Jesus says, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few." Often we feel insecure about sharing our faith, inadequate inviting others to church, and afraid we might enter into a theological debate.
But reaching out need not be a daunting task, it's as simple as sharing God's love. The trick is, of course, let them know where that love originated and challenging them to extend that love in the community.
Come and be part of the Water's Edge as we seek to be a church that loves all, welcomes all, and accepts all in community.
Blessings,
Pastor Elbert

Join us for potluck in the Cove this Sunday!
Stay, meet and mingle after the worship...
Last month's potluck was a real feast. We think this Sunday will be even better. Hope you'll join us after the service this Sunday, have a bite to eat and drink. Take a moment to meet some new friends in our Water's Edge community.
Please bring some food or drink to share but remember that even if you should forget, there will always be plenty to go around.
A special blessing...
Last Sunday we had the opportunity to be part of a church-wide blessing for Rev. Greg LaDue, who has been commissioned to become the Pastor of Seniors Ministry at First Church. Congratulations Pastor Greg!

W.E. Can
One of the goals for the Water's Edge congregation this year is to support our First Church Food Ministry: Loaves and Fishes. Besides canned food items, milk, eggs, and bread are always welcome. You may leave your donations in The Cove, or in Linder Hall.
Our service is low-key, non-traditional with weekly communion, open to everyone.
The band plays original Christian and traditional praise music. And it's ok to applaud.
