Reflecting God ~ Embrace Holy Living ~ Wednesday, 23 October 2013 ~ ”Be Responsible. Be Rewarded.”
2 Thessalonians 3:6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us. 7 For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you, 8 neither did we eat bread from anyone’s hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you; 9 not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us. 10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: “If anyone will not work, don’t let him eat.” 11 For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13 But you, brothers, don’t be weary in doing well. 14 If any man doesn’t obey our word in this letter, note that man, that you have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed. 15 Don’t count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.(Messianic WEB)
“Be Responsible. Be Rewarded.” by Kerry Willis
An evangelist told an inspiring story from the days when one-room schoolhouses were plentiful across the United States. The teacher was having a difficult time. Her students refused to clean their muddy shoes before coming inside. At the teacher’s request, the superintendent dropped in to encourage the students to keep their classroom floors shiny by cleaning their muddy shoes. He promised to make a surprise return and on that day a prize would be given to the student who had the cleanest shoes.
For weeks everyone cleaned their shoes, however, after a month had passed only one girl, Gracie, continued to cheerfully keep her shoes clean. As her classmates mocked her, Gracie sweetly replied, “I believe the kind man’s promise.”
A week later one of the boys pointed outside the raindrop-filled window and cried loudly, “Look, the kind man is coming! He has a pony with him!” All the children jumped from their desks and furiously attempted to clean up the muddy floors beneath them. Only Gracie sat calmly and grinning with her clean shoes dangling just above the the shiny floor beneath her. That day, Gracie did not walk home. She galloped home on her new pony.

1. Lord, as of old at Pentecost
Thou didst Thy power display,
With cleansing purifying flame,
Descend on us today.

Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
Thy floodgates of blessing on us throw open wide!
Lord send the old-time power. the Pentecostal power.
That sinners be converted and Thy name glorified!
2. For mighty works for Thee, prepare
And strengthen every heart;
Come, take possession of Thine ow.n
And nevermore depart.
Chorus:
Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
Thy floodgates of blessing on us throw open wide!
Lord send the old-time power. the Pentecostal power.
That sinners be converted and Thy name glorified!
3. All self consume, all sin destroy!
With earnest zeal endue
Each waiting heart to work for Thee;
O Lord, our faith renew!
Chorus:
Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
Thy floodgates of blessing on us throw open wide!
Lord send the old-time power. the Pentecostal power.

Thy promise we believe,
And will not let Thee go until
The blessing we receive.

Lord, send the old-time power, the Pentecostal power!
Thy floodgates of blessing on us throw open wide!
Lord send the old-time power. the Pentecostal power.
