Dear Friends, Five Things:
1. Would you be able to give a half day a week to Trinity - as a part of our Receptionist Team? You would meet lots of people, get to know your Church, provide a great service and have fun in the process. As part of a larger team, you would have flexibility for those times you will be away traveling, etc. If this is something you would consider, please contact Tammy at 416-3005 or email ASAP.
2. Finances. The good news is that our mortgage note is getting lower - $766,000, and we're on track to pay off the mortgage in May, 2014, which should help us with the 2014 budget. The not so good news is that we continue to be in the red in our operating budget. Pray with me that our last quarter will be strong, very strong!
3. Wondering which Video Games to buy (or avoid buying) for your kids this Christmas? Trinity's Dennis Frohlich grew up playing video games for 20 years, and now is getting his Ph.D. in Mass Communications at UF and this past summer taught a course: "The Cultural Impact of Video Games." Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 6 at 6:45, (right after Wednesday Night dinner), because Dennis will be offering a one time only class on Video Games, which will explore the pluses (which are many!) and minuses (which are also many!), the game ratings system and more. You won't want to miss this helpful evening. Dennis has written on Pastor Aaron's blog, click here to read.
4. If you're interested in learning more about the explosion of Christianity in Africa and the importance of theological education there, you will want to join us on Wedneday night, November 13, when Dr. William Udotong, Provost of West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS) will be with us. 17 of us were at WATS in Lagos, Nigeria 3 years ago, and we know first hand how vitally important WATS is for the future of Africa's Christian development.
5. Jan Richardson grew up at Trinity, has become an outstanding clergy person, artist and spiritual guide. She and her husband, Garrison Doles, have created a wonderful Advent program: "Illuminated, An Online Journey into the Heart of Christmas." I encourage you to explore it as a possible aid to your Advent devotions at this link.

Missions
This week's Mission Box supports the community Thanksgiving Basket program. This will be the 7th year TUMC coordinates the food donations and distribution of 1100 Thanksgiving meals. Make a donation here. This community program works when the whole community participates so grab a flyer Sunday or print one out from the website. Put up a donation box at work, your community center, with your scouting or Rotary group, everywhere. Grocery gift cards and cash work great also!
The cooler weather has the local homeless population in need of men's pants & shoes, gloves and knit caps. Fifty degrees doesn't sound too cold until you have to spend the whole night outside. Tent donations are always welcome as well. Donations can be dropped off in the blue bin in the Narthex and at reception.
It's the fourth Sunday so if you're not at the Great Pumpkin Harvest come on down to First UMC downtown to help Called to Action & TUMC serve dinner to the homeless population. Information and sign up here.

Are you interested in joining Trinity UMC? It is a casual gathering in which you'll learn more about the United Methodist Church, who we are at Trinity and what is expected of members. The class is designed for visitors and gives you the opportunity to meet our ministers and learn about the many ways to become involved in our church family.
Those who are ready to join have a chance to do so the Sunday after the Coffee. The next Coffee with the Pastors is December 8, from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. in the Room 222. To register for Coffee with the Pastors click on this link or e-mail Carmen Nelson to receive the form via e-mail. We would love to meet you and to welcome you into the membership of our church!

Communion - "Why I Serve"
"Communion has taken on a special meaning to me after chemotherapy. During the months of treatment I was not able to go out in public places due to immune suppression, etc. I experienced a deep longing for the connection felt during our church worship, especially during communion and the Lord's Prayer. Serving communion allows me to be a part of that loving connection that God so wants with each one of us. I want to help others experience that "ah-hah" moment when they shed their secular problems and reconnect (reenergize) with God and their fellow worshipers." Linda Issacs
If you would like to become a communion steward (or to assist in serving communion), please contact Pam Goad."
Children's Ministries
October 25-26: Wouldn't it be nice to be able to hit the "easy" button for hard parenting questions? Better yet, if we could call in a parenting "coach" that would step in right in the middle of the current crises in our homes? Join Dr. Kimmel for Grace Based Parenting Workshop held at Grace at Fort Clarke United Methodist to help answer some of your parenting questions. Please visit the website for more details. Trinity will provide FREE childcare for the Saturday conference. Please RSVP to McCall for childcare.
