Beth Immanuel Sabbath Fellowship ~ Newsletter: Kislev 5774
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
Welcome to the month of Kislev!
Chanukah
It’s better to light a candle than to curse the darkness, and one little candle can dispel a lot of darkness. Think of how much darkness we can dispel with eight candles burning bright! Chanukah comes early this year. The festival of light begins after sundown on Wednesday, November 27 (Erev-Thanksgiving) and concludes on Thursday, December 5. Learn the history of Chanukah, how to celebrate Chanukah, and listen to Chanukah teachings on our new Chanukah resource page.
Intro to Jewish Sources
Pastor Lancaster’s new eight-week class, “Introduction to Jewish Sources” is underway on Tuesday nights. Contact us for audio CD subscriptions.

Learn Along with B.I.T.S.
Beth Immanuel Torah School (BITS) is a kids' program for ages 3-12 where we study Hebrew, Chumash (the weekly Torah portions), Gospels, calendar, middot (good character traits), and other fundamentals of Messianic Judaism.
You might not be able to attend BITS if you live far away, but that doesn't mean you can't learn with us! Visit the B.I.T.S. page on our website to learn Hebrew songs and prayers including the Parashah song for Bereishit, the Hebrew of the Avinu (“Our Father”), the Greatest Commandments (Shema and Ve’ahavta) and much more.
Star of Bethlehem
Aaron Eby will present amazing insights into the mysterious star that led the magi to Bethlehem with new discoveries in astronomy, ancient literature, and Jewish tradition. Sunday, December 15, 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM. Click here for details.
