Tu B'Shevat
Welcome to the month of Shevat and Happy New Year for the civil year 2014. By the way, the New Year for trees is coming up in just a few weeks. Tu B’Shevat, the Talmudic New Year for trees, falls on Thursday, January 16 this year.
Get in the Tu B’Shevat spirit with a sermon titled “Trees need Water.”
Shabbat Shirah
Shabbat January 11 is Shabbat Shirah, “The Sabbath of the Song at the Sea” when we hear the Torah portion about the crossing of the sea. Join us at Beth Immanuel to hear the Song at the Sea chanted in Hebrew during our Shabbat liturgical service. As a special gift for you, we have also uploaded a powerful teaching titled “The Water Walkers,” available both in audio and written transcript.
One Year in Hebrews
Pastor Lancaster began the current teaching series on the book of Hebrews one year ago. Twelve months and 35 sermons later, we have worked through the first nine chapters. Click here to listen to the series so far.
Welcoming the Sabbath
Did you know that you can learn to sing the Friday night psalms in Hebrew? Let Troy Mitchell teach you the cantor melodies for welcoming the Sabbath in Psalm 29, 92, 93, 95, 96,97,98, 99. (Some of the melodies are complete Psalms, some provide only the first and last phrases of the psalm.) Listen to the Psalms here; then join us for Friday night prayers to welcome the Sabbath.
