First United Methodist Church’s Water Edge – Friday, 3 January 2014 – “Powerful Living in 2014”

First United Methodist Church’s Water Edge – Friday, 3 January 2014 – “Powerful Living in 2014”
On this coming Sunday, the first of 2014, we celebrate Epiphany and the story of the Magis' journey to find and worship Jesus.
As we prepare to talk more about our series Power 4 Living, I have been thinking quite a bit about what distracts us from doing some of the things the magi did so well. They were willing to risk so much to make their journey. They trusted that they would find this newborn king which they had heard about somehow, even though they were likely Gentiles. They listened for the voice of God, practiced generosity, and did the things God called them to do. What an incredible testimony! And all because they were focused on the Christ Child.
As we begin this new year, we have a new journey, a new opportunity to focus and draw near to Jesus. Join us on Sunday as we look at some of the ways that we too can be driven less by the distractions around us, and more by the powerful living God has made and given to each and every one of us.
Happy New Year blessings!

W.E. CAN
With recent budget cuts from the food stamps program; our food ministry has become an even more important resource for hungry families. One of the goals for the Water's Edge congregation this year is to support our First Church Food Ministry: Loaves and Fishes. Besides canned food items, milk, eggs, and bread are always welcome. You may leave your donations in The Cove, or in Linder Hall.
Our service is modern and inter-generational with weekly communion, open to everyone.
The band plays both current and traditional praise music, as well as original Christian music.
