DAY 26 OF 40 - Better Together Through Prayer And The Word

DAY 26 OF 40 - Better Together Through Prayer And The Word
Nehemiah 6:15-16
15 So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. 16 And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.
DAY 26 – SUCCESS AGAINST ALL ODDS
YES, WE HAVE A COMPLETED WALL!!!! And in record time…
SCRIPTURE: Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days. 16 When all our enemies heard of it, all the nations that were around us were afraid, and were much cast down in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was worked of our God.
Fifty-two days – that is not even a complete two months – the wall is finished, even in the face of so much opposition from the nations around Jerusalem: threats, deception, and insults. As the scripture tells us, With God, all things are possible.
When Shemaiah, Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem and all the other people from the surrounding nations heard of the completion, they were afraid and lost their self-confidence. In other words, they totally lost their nerve. They realized that this work had been done with the help of God. As in Joshua 4:24, we read after the crossing of the Red Sea on dry land, God did this so that all the people of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful…and might always fear the Lord our God. Nehemiah’s enemies saw the results of the powerful hand of the Lord that day!
What a glorious day that had to be for Nehemiah, the builders, and all the Jews. The wall was completed. God had helped them to accomplish an amazing feat, and Jerusalem was safe again. The scripture doesn’t tell us, but there had to be a time of praise!
LIFE APPLICATION: It is a day for praise! What amazing feat(s) have you seen the hand of God do for you or someone else? A healing…an answer to prayer…an impossible situation resolved…? …make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things…Isaiah 12:4b-5a.
