Kansas City, Missouri,
United States - Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - “Playing Savior” – Friday,
18 April 2014 - Scripture: Psalm 146:1 Praise Yah!
Praise Yahweh, my soul.
2 While I live, I will
praise Yahweh.
I will sing praises to my God as long as I
exist.
3 Don’t put your trust
in princes,
each a son of man in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs,
and he returns to the earth.
In that very day, his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he who has
the God of Jacob for his help,
whose hope is in Yahweh, his God:
6 who made heaven and
earth,
the sea, and all that is in them;
who keeps truth forever;
7 who executes justice
for the oppressed;
who gives food to the hungry.
Yahweh frees the prisoners.
8 Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind.
Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down.
Yahweh loves the righteous.
9 Yahweh preserves the
foreigners.
He upholds the fatherless and widow,
but the way of the wicked he turns upside
down.
10 Yahweh will reign
forever;
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise Yah!
“Playing Savior” by Cynthia

We can’t bear to see
those we love suffer. We do all that we can to make them more comfortable.
While it is commendable to come alongside the suffering, there is a fine line
between comforting and getting in the way of what God is doing. The hardships
we personally encounter are the very times that draw us closer and more
dependent upon our Savior. Heaven forbid that we train a needy person that we
are the answer to their needs. It might boost our ego for awhile, but we will
soon find ourselves trying to fill a bottomless pit!
When Jesus was hanging
on the cross, His accusers mocked and shouted, “He saved others . . . but he
can’t save himself! . . . Let him come down now from the cross, and we will
believe in him” (Matthew 27:42). Do we really believe that He can save us? Do
we believe that He can save someone from a desperate situation? Or, do we take
over because we’re afraid that if we put our friend in the hands of Jesus, we
will look foolish if Jesus doesn’t come through?
Little did Jesus’
accusers know! There is one Savior. His name is Jesus.
Hymn for Today:
“God Will Take Care of
You” by Civilia D. Martin
1. Be not dismayed whate'er betide,
God will take care of you;
beneath his wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.
Refrain:
God will take care of you,
through every day, o'er all the way;
he will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
2. Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
when dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you.
Refrain:
God will take care of you,
through every day, o'er all the way;
he will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
3. All you may need he will provide,
God will take care of you;
nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.
Refrain:
God will take care of you,
through every day, o'er all the way;
he will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
4. No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
lean, weary one, upon his breast,
God will take care of you.
Refrain:
God will take care of you,
through every day, o'er all the way;
he will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
