I'm excited to let you know that I'll be speaking this Wednesday evening, April 23, at Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. Wednesday's gathering is the first of six events where I'll be talking about my new book, Making Sense of the Bible, during the next few months.For those of you who cannot attend in person this week, you may want to watch online. During this presentation, I'll discuss topics from the book including the nature of scripture exploring the human and divine - what it is and is not, how it was written and canonized, why we don’t consider it inerrant, and what a “high view of scripture” might mean.
I'll also tackle the questions people often ask about the Bible:
Do I have to choose between evolution and the Bible?
Were Adam and Eve and Noah real people?
How do we make sense of the violence of God in the Old Testament?
