Some wounds remain. But these wounds are not a punishment reflecting our guilt, faults or wrong-doing. They are the result of other wounds, which in turn were caused by still earlier ones. And we can learn how to manage them and to make use of them so that we live in greater truth. The wounds of our hearts then become an invitation, an urgent call, to live in a relationship of love and unity with God and with others.(Jean Vanier, Seeing Beyond Depression, page 73)
