Hi all,
Chapter 4 – second part:
1. Crossan says that most people believe in supernatural spirits? Do you? Why or why not?
2. P. 96 “To disagree on a diagnosis is not the same as denying a symptom…” - so whether or not you believe in spirits, we still have to address the manifestations.
3. In the example about exorcism on p.97, Crossan objects to the “trivialization of evil...” Comments?
4. If we use the word "trance" for altered states of consciousness, have you ever had a trance experience? Would you be willing to share it?
5. In the story of the Gerasene demoniac, Crossan compares it with being an occupied country – with oppressed group behavior. What do you think of his explanation?
6. Was Jesus in a trance state when he healed?
7. Have you had any experience with supernatural healing?
8. The whole discussion of itinerancy was fascinating to me. I had never thought of Jesus ministry in those terms. What are your thoughts on the subject.
See you Sunday.
