Hail RezChatters, full of grace.
Pray for us bikers in the hour of our need.
I haven't been on my mountain bike yet this year. But after I send out this newsletter, I'll be pulling it off the stand and prepping it for a ride on the river trail in Lawrence tomorrow.
My son is going. So is biker Tim Edwards. We even sweet-talked Terry Bahadur into joining us. We'll leave my son's house near K-7 and Santa Fe at 9:30 a.m. We ride on a dirt path through the woods. It takes about an hour, moving at an easy pace.
By noon, we should be eating Philly cheese-steak sandwiches at PepperJax in Lawrence, and then back home. At least those of us who want to do that.
If you've got wheels or can run pretty fast, you're welcome to join us. Just hit the Reply button on your email software to let me know.

Sunday: Fav Bible passage
This is the last of our 3-week series called "I Love that Passage."
It's leader's choice. I'm the discussion leader this week, so I get to pick my all-time favorite Bible passage.
It's a favorite of mine not just because of the words, but because of the story about how I came to read those words and what happened afterward.
The story and the passage are a tag team that have become the one anchor in my life stronger than any other harboring me in the belief that there is a God and that he cares about me. There are other anchors that we all share, but this one is personal. It’s mine.
Here's my favorite Bible passage in all of the Bible: Isaiah 40:27-31.
[Isaiah 40:27-31 Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.]
There are only two discussion questions I'm going to have for you:
1.When was a time God became most real to you? Or to someone you know?
2.For those who don’t have a special moment like this, what do they have? What can they hang their faith on?.

Train ride to wineries:
November 7-9
Linda Miller is working on a weekend excursion for the class:
a train ride to a quaint German-style city in wine country along the banks of the Missouri River: Hermann, Missouri.
We would lLeave the Amtrak station at Lees Summit at 4:36 p.m. on Friday, November 7. Arrive in Hermann at 7:48 p.m. Train fare will run between about $50-$60 round trip per person, depending on Sunday's departure time and age of the riders.
Traverhubs lists Hermann as one of the Top 10 best places In the US to see Fall folliage:
"Don't miss to visit Hermann Hill with views that bring you a bountiful harvest of colors that spread across the valley and into the surrounding hillsides. Missouri's fall color season usually lasts four to six weeks, from mid-September to its peak in mid-October with November days having a beauty of their own. Short trips to areas around Hermann can fill your days with a variety of fall festivals and tours of wine country."
Linda is working on housing for the group.
We'll spend all day Saturday doing stuff together...or separately if we can't get along.
We will take the train back home on Sunday, probably leaving at 10:49 a.m. and returning at 2:04 p.m. Another option is to leave at 5:30 p.m. and return at 8:15. But we'd have to find a place to stash our luggage after checkout from the place we'll be staying.
Linda plans to talk with us about this on Sunday, to pick a preferred time.
