Take a look at our upcoming activites below:
Hello Resurrection Blue Springs!
I hope you're having a good Friday so far! Last weekend we started a new sermon series on "The Power of Words" and we gave out a small card with two scripture memory verses on them to say and pray each day this week. I put my card in my car where I could see it and pray it this week. It has made me consider my words more carefully this week. I'd love to hear how you have used your memory cards and whether they've made a difference for you.
We've got another big weekend planned this week. Saturday the men are holding a Men's Breakfast at 8 am in Fellowship Hall. All the guys are invited for a time of great food, fellowship and some planning time for making the final arrangements for the Fall Fun Fest's BBQ booth. Don't forget to check your shirt size and sign up this weekend for a time slot to help on Sept. 12-14.
Sunday we have the second sermon in our series on "The Power of Words." It will focus on healthy marriages, families and relationships and what words to avoid, and a handful of words we must regularly say if we're to have happy and loving relationships. Before and after each service we'll be holding a Mission Fair. We'll have a table at the back of the sanctuary where you can find out more about all our missions ministries. We'll also have a short survey in the bulletin to gather information about how we might better plan these opportunities to serve at Blue Springs. A drawing will also be held giving away a scholarship for one of our Navaho Nation trips or a deposit on an international mission trips to Haiti, Jamaica or Honduras. I'd love for whoever wins to join me this January in Jamaica. And anyone else who's interested! Bill and I are planning to go on the trip from Jan. 3-10th. This fair is an awesome opportunity to learn more about the ways that you can serve in Kansas City and beyond.
Following our 10:45 worship, we'll be hosting a Coffee Pizza with the Pastor event for anyone wanting to learn more about our church or thinking about joining. We'll share with you the church's story, who we are as United Methodists, and the expectations for members. At the end, we have a brief joining ceremony for those ready to become members of the church.
Then at 4 pm, our 6th - 12th grade youth will be gathering for a Rezlife Pool Party for the kickoff of our 2014-2015 Rezlife year. The details about the party are below. Parents you're invited for a brief parent meeting at the start. I'm planning on giving the youth the opportunity to douse the pastor for the " ALS icebucket challenge" sent out by Pastor Adam yesterday. You can watch his challenge by clicking here. Watch our facebook page Sunday for my challenge! Students are welcome to invite their friends. We'll provide dinner for all!
More details for all these events and more below:
Men’s Breakfast – Saturday, Aug. 23, 8 am. All men are invited to join us for pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy and hear about how they might take a part in our BBQ Sundae booth at the 2014 Blue Springs Fall Fun Festival, September 12-14. This is a fun event that takes a lot of hands to pull off. We'd love to include yours in the planning.
