Drew University recognized in yearly "Best Colleges 2015" guidebook.
After reviewing 1,800 schools across the nation, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Drew University among its top 100 National Liberal Arts Colleges in the United States.
The rankings were released on September 9. Drew will be part of the U.S. News & World Report’s "Best Colleges 2015" guidebook, a national book that is used to help students evaluate and choose colleges.
Among the factors considered in the national rankings are first year retention, faculty strength, alumni giving, academic excellence and graduation rates. In its description of Drew, the magazine highlighted the university’s proximity to New York City and its unique New York semesters, which include the Wall Street Semester and the Semester on the United Nations.
"With our strengths in international education, civic engagement, our New York Semesters, and universally strong liberal arts and sciences programs, Drew deserves to be considered among the best in higher education in the U.S.," said President MaryAnn Baenninger. "Drew offers students a rigorous liberal arts education, one that is shaped by unique learning experiences in the larger world and that prepares them not only for a specific career, but for any challenge."
In addition to its academic rigor and excellent professors, President Baenninger pointed out that Drew also emphasizes hands-on learning in the STEM fields and a deep commitment to social justice and service to the community.
Though the U.S. News & World Report guide focused on the College of Liberal Arts, Drew also offers distinctive degree programs through its Caspersen School of Graduate Studies and Theological School. For the fourth year in a row, a student teacher from Drew’s Master's of Arts in Teaching program has been named as one of the top student teachers in the state of New Jersey.
U.S. News & World Report is the latest publication to feature Drew in its rankings. Drew also was recently featured in: Princeton Review: The Best 379 Colleges, 2015 Edition; Washington Monthly’s "Best Liberal Arts Colleges" and "Best Bang for the Buck" lists (coming in at 78 and 54, respectively); and Fiske Guide to Colleges 2015.
Students at Drew were among those who weighed in for the Princeton Review, which recognized Drew in two additional listings, the 225 Best Northeastern Schools and the Guide to 332 Green Colleges. According to Princeton Review, Drew's theatre arts program ranks seventh highest in the nation.
