Peace and Good in Christ.
I find
myself writing this letter with several emotions.
GRATEFUL
First, I
am most grateful to those few who have donated to our recent TV
appeal. I am genuinely thankful for your generous financial support, kind words
and prayers.
STUNNED
The only
way to describe my next emotion is stunned by the VERY LOW
initial response.
The
appeal went out to approximately 90,000 people via email and social media with
a goal of $80,000 (less than $1.00 a person). As of today, less than 35% even
OPENED the appeal with donations received totaling approximately $3,500 from 40
people.
It is
stunning. The testimonies we receive each
week via mail, social media and calls tell us that this is more than just a TV
show to many! "All Things Are Possible" provides spiritual
nourishment, companionship and encouragement. The program goes to millions of
homes and is receiving better ratings than we ever expected at this point.
These facts tell us God is using this ministry.
THE NEEDS ARE REAL
It takes
paid employees and volunteers working tirelessly in order for the JMT Ministry
to carry on. AND WE ARE REACHING MORE THAN EVER BEFORE. But the media is not a
"for sale recording", or "pay concerts". IT IS ALL
MINISTRY. We completely rely on supporters LIKE YOU!
SO HOW DOES RELIGIOUS NOT FOR PROFIT TV WORK?
Many say
that TV ministries are always asking for money. NOT SO!
THE FCC
gives us 3 minutes in every 28 minutes of programming to ask for funding from
"viewers like you." IT IS NOT COMMERCIAL TV, where nearly 9 MINUTES
every half hour are used to sell products by sponsors! Religious not for profit
programming cannot use such funding.
Plus, NO
ONE IS GETTING RICH! I have taken a vow of poverty. I have no retirement plan,
or savings account.
CHRIST HAS NO BODY NOW BUT YOURS
Many
years ago I put a prayer written by St. Theresa of Avila to music:
"Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet
on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which He looks, compassion on
this world.
Yours are the feet with which He walks to do good.
Yours are the hands through which He blesses all the
world."
In the
"world", people vote with their feet and pocketbooks. According to
our means we all show up and we support the things we believe in. As disciples
of Christ we are held to a different standard. This generation of believers is
responsible for this generation of souls. We are responsible to support
ministries through all means we can to lead souls to Christ.
SO, WHAT ABOUT YOU?
As stated
at the top of this letter, we raised $3,500 from just 40 people.
If we
could get everyone on our mailing list and social media to give just $1 each,
we would reach our goal immediately or...
If we
could get 3,200 folks to give $25, or 800 to give $100, or even 80 folks to
give $1,000 we could reach our goal and GO ON TO EVEN GREATER THINGS FOR
CHRIST!
The
bottom line is, if we do not get financial support, the All Things Are Possible
TV program cannot continue for the long run.
