Resurrection West,
All are welcome at Faithworks tomorrow morning from 9-11:30am. Faithworks is an opportunity to spend Saturdaymorning in service to others in Christ's name. We will be doing a "No-Sew Blanket Blitz" and making plastic mats for the homeless, as well as lunch sacks to be delivered ton those in need. This is a family-friendly service opportunity so come on out and serve!
Pastor Adam begins a new series this Sunday on the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul. I have always been inspired and challenged by Paul's ministry and writings and look forward to growing through this series. We will also be celebrating our Matthew's Ministries, which is our ministry for those with special needs. Matthew's Ministry participants will be reading Scripture and greeting at the doors in each service on Sunday. Here are a few facts about this amazing ministry…
•In 1993 Matthew's Ministry started with one student at our Leawood campus; in 2014 we serve more than 200 at the four Resurrection campuses.
•Every month 200+ volunteers serve in this ministry.
•The Sonflower Bakery, operated at our Leawood campus by Matthew's Ministry participants, produces more than 10,000 baked goods annually.
•The Sonflower Adult Learning Program is the only church-based program in Kansas that daily serves adults with special needs.

Sign Up for Sacred Steps - 5k Run Walk/Kids Fun Run, Saturday, Sept. 20, 8 am, Leawood Campus. Proceeds go to help dig wells to bring water to those who need it most. Visit cor.org/sacredsteps or stop by the reception desk in the entry to register Sunday!
KiDS COR Volunteer Team Q & A - KiDS COR teachers who missed the August training and youth/adults interested in being a part of the team are invited to an Information/Q&A Breakfast in the Bible Theater, Sunday, Sept. 21, 8-8:30 am.
Student Ministries still needs adult volunteers for the semester! Please consider helping weekly, bi-weekly or once a month in the following areas:
1. Sanctuary Set-up for Youth Group - 30 minutes each week, late Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons
2. Sunday School Teachers - during the 10:45 am or 5 pm service; training and curriculum provided
3. Middle School Café - 5:45-6:30 pm on Wednesdays; help serve pizza/drinks 4. Youth Group Help - hang out with students, lead with other awesome adults and help make Youth Group a great experience! To sign up to serve, call 913-538-7800 or email Travis.Morgan@cor.org.
Matthew's Ministry Family Night Out - Friday, Sept. 26, 5:30-8pm. Parents of children with special needs can have an evening out while volunteers and staff care for their special needs family member and siblings. ContactVicki.Holdman@cor.org for more information. Register at rezwest.org/children.
We are excited to share that we will start filling Backpacks for Hunger for Ridgeview Elementary students at Resurrection West coming in October. I wanted to say thank you to the many of you who volunteered, participated, or cheered on the Cedar Creek Triathlon last Sunday morning. I had a great time participating and saw so many Rez Westers involved! Here is a pic at the end of the race with my daughters.
Finally, I wanted to share that I'll be away this Sunday on some personal retreat days. Each year our staff-parish committee encourages pastors and staff to participate in what we call personal retreat days, or Sabbath days away from ministry. I have some books on the subject of vision to prepare the workshop I’m teaching at Leadership Institute and some personal devotional materials to spend time in prayer and study. I'll be joining you in worship on-line, but I will miss being with you in person this Sunday! I look forward to returning to worship at West on Sunday, Sept. 21st and hope to see many of you at the Sacred Steps 5k a week from tomorrow!
