Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Tuesday, 9 September 2014
Jesus went throughout Galilee teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.  News about him spread, and ...large crowds followed him (Matt 4:23-25).
There's something about the Good News and about healings that draws large crowds. While we don't "heal" per se, at Trinity, we do have lots of groups that offer prayers for healing (Order of St. Luke, Healing Touch, Hospital Visitation team, prayer team, and more, that draw people from all over our community.  
And, often what it takes for people to follow Him is an invitation. This past Sunday at our 11:00 service, when I asked if there were any visitors, several stood and identified themselves.  I asked, "How did you happen to come to Trinity?"  And one said this: "I just moved here and my neighbor corralled me into coming."  I said, "What was it about her invitation that made you want to come?"  Her answer is striking:  "She is the first person who ever invited me to their church."!!!  80% of people join a church because someone invites them.  Will you invite someone to church this week?  And next?  And the next?
