Dear Friends, I have six things for you: 1. I'm sorry that we ran out of stones and car magnets this past Sunday; we're trying to get more in very soon. I'm grateful you appreciate them - as reminders of our call to follow Jesus and help change the world. This week you will receive a letter from Trinity with an enclosed "estimate of giving" card for 2015. Please fill it out and bring it this Sunday to our very special Commitment Sunday. If you prefer, you can go online.....Either way, I want you to have as an appreciation gift - my little devotional book on the Book of Ruth. They will be in the back of the Church for you. Chef Franny is also making some very special cupcakes for us to enjoy! 2. Men of Trinity - mark your calendars for Saturday morning, January 31. We're having a men's retreat, with a great line up of speakers and topics; more to come later. 3. The Laurel Oak in front of Trinity, adjacent to the Live Oak (Trinity Tree) was removed on Monday. It will look a little different there - until we begin building the new Welcome Center/Hub in early 2015. We're now at $191,600! toward our goal. 4. The new Sonlight Mission Statement and Position Description for a new Director are complete and are located at the end of today's Tues/Wed Word; it is also posted on our website. This position will require a very special person, so please (a) pray with us for this person and (b) feel free to post on your facebook page and seek out persons who you think might be interested or know who might be. We are receiving applications through Dec. 31. 5. We are excited to announce that after a nationwide search that brought in several applications, our Staff Parish Relations Committee has unanimously supported the nomination by the Missions Committee and Ted Grueser of Trinity's own Ward Simonton as Asst. Missions Director with specific responsibilities for the Faith Mission development. 6. This year's Advent Devotional theme is "Light". In keeping with this, we have preselected scriptures we hope will complement this year's focus. Please sign up for your verse here and submit your devotional to Jim Cook ASAP, but no later than 10 days before the date of your devotion. God bless, Dan

A Word from Rev. Esther
Thank you once more for those of you who helped out by providing socks for the homeless! The second set we collected was also taken to Grace Marketplace this past week. Going along with that, this week's topic at the 6:35 service in the chapel on Wednesday is a text I've heard my Mom tell me all my life and one that upon studying it lately has filled me with encouragement and also a sense of purpose. We'll be looking at Joshua 1:6-9, 'Serving Courageously' as we conclude our series on 'Change the World.' I know I've been made uncomfortable looking at this text and I hope you'll join us this Wednesday and become uncomfortable too. Also, this Thursday the Friendship Disability Group is meeting at 7 p.m. in Room 203/204 -- all are welcome to join this group which explores ways to better serve, empower, and bring awareness to folks with special needs. Blessed week to you!
A Word from Rev. Aaron Rev. Aaron's blog Friends, please continue to pray for Steve Bingham, his wife Trudy, and all the family as he remains in ICU at Shands. We should never underestimate the power of prayer. Also, if you attend the 9:40 service, please come prepared to sing along with Sonlight as they will be bringing a familiar song to contribute to our CommitmentSunday. I am so looking forward to it! Finally, don't forget to order a delicious pumpkin or apple pie to add to your table this Thanksgiving and support Sonlight's 2015 tour fundraising at the same time. Grace and peace be with all of you.

The primary musical medium will be secular songs through which the students and director together find a sacred, connecting meaning and share that with conviction and passion. Music is contemporary and can range from U2 to Rascal Flatts, Brandon Heath, Cold Play, Phish and other artists heard on most radio stations. Qualifications:
- Desire to connect with youth

- Be an integral part of the staff of Trinity.
- Work closely with the Youth Ministry Team of Trinity.
- Work closely with the Director of Music and Worship Arts to plan worship services, intergenerational experiences, and other opportunities in Trinity and the community.

- Work with support teams to choose solo and focus parts.
- Work closely with the Sonlight Band director.
- Help choir plan and execute events to connect with the local community.
Salary is commensurate with the responsibilities of leading this large choir. Application deadline is December 31, 2014. Send resume and other application materials to: jobs@trinitygnv.org or Sonlight Director, Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32653.. |
