February is Alabaster Month...What is Alabaster?
The Alabaster Offering provides funds for property and buildings around the world. While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings erected for the purpose of ministry help provide a sense of permanence, functionally enhance ministry efforts, and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots." Alabaster funds help provide land for many Work & Witness projects, and the entire Alabaster Offering goes toward the purchase of land and construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers. Alabaster Resources are Here.
Late Breaking News - Urgent Prayer Request - Pastor Dies in Accident
Just as this week's newsletter was in the final stages, word was received Friday morning of the passing of one of our pastors on the Southeast Asia Field, the result of a motor vehicle accident. Details are limited, but we have faith that our Lord knows the pastor, family, and church. Please commit to pray for those impacted by this tragedy. More information will be posted to the: Regional Prayer Page.

5 Ways To Improve Delegating Skills
Delegation is like a diet. Everyone knows it will be a pain to begin, but they'll feel better for it. The greatest leaders in history are the greatest delegators. They made the sometimes painful decision to go it alone, and learned the value of team effort.
You've probably learned the dynamic of delegation. Let me add a few reminders to consider in improving your delegation skills.
Don't forget the early follow up. Delegation has some natural and time-sensitive gaps. Projects may be poorly communicated. The "delegate-ee" may be embarrassed to admit they are out of their comfort zone. There may not be enough resources to complete the task. Catching those things early on can prevent a migraine later on.
  1. Avoid the "helicopter" syndrome. The helicopter is an aeronautical wonder; but "helicoptering" is a leadership nightmare. A walk-around is a lot more productive than a look-over. Remember the uneasy feeling of a teacher looking over your shoulder at your school desk? That's how a team member may feel. Create a reasonable space.
  2. Ask for the report. Part of the joy of delegation is the team member's reporting back. It's a great time for affirming work or making critical adjustments, based on the facts of the report. The reporting process may also inspire even more creative procedures for the same task.
  3. Mentor the delegate. The best delegation results in a delegation trend. You're not only getting more work done through delegation, you're increasing the productivity of your team. It's the "teach someone how to fish" principle taken to the next level.
  4. Appreciate best efforts. When a task implodes, it doesn't have to result in casualties. Ineptitude is a call to leadership. It signals that further training or resources are necessary. Learn to adjust to the best someone can do, and help them do better.
  5. Businessman and former U. S. Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, said, "Don't be a bottleneck . . . Force responsibility down and out. Find problem areas, add structure, and delegate. The pressure is to do the reverse. Resist it."[Stan Toler]

Church in Indiana Carries on Legacy of Former Missionary Who Passed Away Suddenly.
Papua New Guinea
Just less than one year ago, in the early morning hours of March 31, 2014, former missionary Janelle Fosnaugh, passed away suddenly in a tragic automobile accident.
Janelle and her husband, Lane, had served as Nazarene missionaries for more than 18 years in Haiti and Papua New Guinea.
Last December, the Huntington Church of the Nazarene in Huntington, Indiana, decided to carry on Janelle's legacy and passion for missions. They partnered to promote the radio program, "Krai Bilong Ol Meri" (Cry of the Women), throughout the Highlands of Papua New Guinea.

CHURCH IN INDIANA CARRIES ON LEGACY OF FORMER MISSIONARY WHO PASSED SUDDENLY
FEBRUARY 5, 2015 TODD A
Papua New Guinea: Just less than one year ago, in the early morning hours of March 31, 2014, former missionary Janelle Fosnaugh, passed suddenly in a tragic automobile accident.
Janelle and her husband, Lane, had served as Nazarene missionaries for more than 18 years in Haiti and Papua New Guinea.Asia-Pacific Region Mourns the Loss of Former Missionary to Papua New Guinea.
Janelle had a passion for sharing the Gospel cross-culturally. In December of 2014, the Huntington Church of the Nazarene made the decision to carry on Janelle’s legacy through raising money to support radio ministry in Papua New Guinea.
In many areas of Papua New Guinea, radio is the only form of communications.
The following note was recently received from Janelle’s mother, Carol.
“As you know, my church adopted this project [Krai Bilong Ol Meri Program - "Cry of the Women"] in memory of my daughter, Janelle Zurcher Fosnaugh… Janelle would be so happy if she knew and Lane is very happy about it. May God bless and multiply [the funds raised] as you use it for His kingdom in getting that radio program out to as many folks as possible. Blessings on you and your great work for God there in PNG! You are in my prayers.”
While the Huntington Church family had set a goal of raising $1,500, they were excited to announce that they had exceeded their goal and were sending in $1,720 to partner in sharing the Gospel message to women across Papua New Guinea.
National Communications Coordinator, Daniel Eka, in his studio at Nazarene Melanesia Bible College, Papua New Guinea.
Rev. Daniel Eka, Radio Director and National Communications Coordinator for PNG responded:
“I just returned from 3 days of radio training with one of our major Christian radio stations in the country. The management and staff of Wantok Radio Light made great comments concerning the Krai Bilong Ol Meri (KBOM) Program. Their comments are positive. KBOM is touching the lives of many souls.”
Krai Bilong Ol Meri is currently airing on 16 radio stations in 17 out of the 22 provinces of PNG.
The Asia-Pacific Region and the Melanesia South Pacific Field, wish to personally thank the Huntington Church of the Nazarene. Their dream of carrying on Janelle’s legacy through the highlands of Papua New Guinea will make an eternal impact.

YOUR FREEDOM OFFERING CAN CHANGE A LIFE.
The Church of the Nazarene has a presence in many countries where people are vulnerable to trafficking. In these areas, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) partners with local churches in anti-trafficking efforts that range from prevention and education to protection and rehabilitation.
Your Freedom Offering can change a life. On Freedom Sunday, we’re taking a Freedom Offering, which will go to support the following:
NCM Global Anti-Trafficking Fund. By giving to this fund, you are helping to offer true freedom in the name of Christ through programs that provide hopeful alternatives to modern slavery.
Scholarships for Trafficking Survivors. With support, survivors of trafficking can find a path that leads to hope, healing, and restoration. Your gift will help fund scholarships for trafficking survivors at Nazarene colleges and universities around the world.
Preventing Trafficking of Children. The church in countries like Ukraine, Armenia, and Sri Lanka is working to protect children and youth through education and advocacy geared specifically toward preventing them from becoming trafficking victims.
Church-Based Prevention. In countries like South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sri Lanka, targeted trainings and awareness programs are equipping local congregations to prevent trafficking in their communities. The goal is to expand this work extensively.

Opportunity for Partners to Become Involved!
Asia-Pacific Region
In a Region that has more than 7,105 spoken languages and 40% of the world's population, sharing the Gospel beyond political borders and across geographical and language barriers, can seem nearly impossible.
In partnership with JESUS Film Harvest Partners, and thanks to new technology, we have the opportunity, today...to take the Gospel beyond Borders and Barriers, but we need your help.
Papyrus Solar powered audio players allow us to share the Bible in some of the most difficult languages on earth!
Taking the gospel message and pastoral courses to those who have never learned to read.
In one location, young believers are taking these units, with the New Testament in the local language, into large housing complexes and loaning them out to elderly who have no access to audio versions of the Scripture.
We currently have need for more than 30 of these units, to be deployed in strategic locations across the Region.
The cost per unit is $75.00, but more than finances, we need prayer partners who will pray for the transformation of lives that are introduced to the Word!
"So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."[Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)]

PRAY…THEN PARTNER IN TAKING THE GOSPEL BEYOND BORDERS AND BARRIERS! WILL YOU ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE?
JANUARY 30, 2015 TODD A
Asia-Pacific Region: The Asia-Pacific Region is home to fully 40% of the world’s population and 30% of the global land mass. Across this vast region are spread more than 7,105 spoken languages! It is further estimated that 75% of all people learn, gather information, and live their daily lives without reading. Even if we gave them a Bible they could not find their way to Christ.
Now complicate this picture with the fact that the Asia-Pacific Region has some of the most closed borders with regard to sharing of the Gospel.
How can we take the message of Christ beyond these borders and barriers? Alone we can’t, but together with God and you … we can!
A very unique opportunity has just recently arisen. In a closed world area with one of the most difficult languages to learn, we have the opportunity, in partnership with JESUS Film Harvest Partners, to send in the Papyrus Solar Audio Player. This unit, while small enough to fit in your hand, is powerful enough to be heard by up to 200 listeners at a time!
We have a request for 30 of these units, for immediate deployment.- Field Personnel
We are looking for financial partners in this endeavor, but even more so, we are looking for partners who will be willing to commit to pray for the impact of these units, that the Word of God, shared in this fashion, would have transformational, life-changing, impact!
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”- Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)
Imagine:
In one location young believers are taking these units, with the New Testament in the local language, into large housing complexes and loaning them out to elderly who have no access to audio versions of the Scripture.
In another location, believers from rural areas are taking units back to their villages to share the Good News with family members.
People having for the first time, hope in a future and salvation, because of being introduced to the love and message of Christ!
Would you be willing to partner in praying and sending the Gospel beyond borders and barriers?
Commitment to pray for Kingdom impact from your investment.
$75.00 per unit.
Be part of lives being transformed for eternity!
