"36 Individuals Making A Difference In The Jewish World And Beyond" The Jewish Week Connecting the world with Jewish News, Culture, Features, and Opinions for Wednesday, 3 June 2015

36 Under 36 Special Section

Dear Readers,
Every year, The Jewish Week and now NY Blueprintpresent a list of 36 individuals under the age of 36 who display exemplary devotion to merging Judaism with action. We now proudly release our eighth annual 36 Under 36 issue, which highlights young innovators in the New York area who are blending their Jewish values with education, social justice, art and medical advancement in their quest to create a more thriving and secure world.
This year's 36ers were drawn from the highest volume of candidates to date, having received over 600 nominations for the first time since this special section's inception. Starting with change-makers as young as 15, we present a diverse group of activists, artists, leaders, and thinkers including an entrepreneur who is still in high school, a young woman who is searching for the cure of her own cancer, a Chasidic female rocker, a Brooklynite who has found a second home in Malawi creating stabilized jobs, a rabbi who beat boxes from the bima and trailblazers in the LGBTQ Orthodox community.
The 2015 cohort is as diverse as it is accomplished, while being unified by a shared sense of Jewish sensibility and the desire to improve their communities as well as affecting change globally. We encourage you to share this year's issue with your friends, your family and anyone who cherishes the invaluable sentiments of tikkun olam. Congratulations to all of our 36ers!
