Rez Blue Springs Headed to the Holy Land in Fall of 2016!
Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
I'm sitting out on my deck on this beautiful Friday morning with a hot cup of coffee enjoying the lush green all around me and watching a passion flower blossum slowly opening in the sun. I marvel at the miracle of creation of mornings like this. I wanted to share an exciting new development with you this week. Although, I'll have to admit it comes with some mixed emotions.
On June 15 Christie Walker, our former Children's Director and now KiDS COR volunteer extraordinaire will be leaving us and stepping into the Children's Ministries Director position with Resurrection West. The Walker family has been an active part of the Resurrection Blue Springs community for the last 4 years and we will miss having them with us (although we hope to see Cliff occasionally behind the drums). I am excited to know that Christie and family will still be a part of the Resurrection family and not very far away.
Diane Enlow, our Children's Director, and Christie are excited to be able to partner together across campuses now to support the mission of coming alongside parents in reaching the hearts of their children so they will grow to be fully devoted followers of Christ. With Christie's going there will be opportunities for others to step up into the leadership places Christie leaves behind. I was so pleased to hear that Andie Moon will now be co-leading our Building Better Mom's team as Christie leaves! God is always at work raising up and equipping others to fill the needs of the body.
On that note, we have another position to fill on our staff, that of Technical Producer. Clark Johnson is leaving us to start his new engineering career this week and we are looking for a person to fill his position. If you happen to know of a possible candidate, please invite them to send a resume or contact us for more information about this position. The job description is below.
This Sunday in worship we will be continuing our sermon series, "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" where we're taking a look at baseball to see what lessons for the Christian life might be learned from it. This Sunday I have an opportunity to share some lessons learned about growing in Christian discipleship from Jason Adams, a minor league pitcher who grew up at Resurrection and Jerry Terrel, a retired former KC Royal. I had a chance this week to sit in on an interview with Pastor Adam and Dayton Moore, General Manager of the Royals too. If I hadn't been a fan before, I certainly would be now after listening to Moore's faith and leadership principles. You'll hear more about these on Father's day when Pastor Adam is back in the pulpit. I hope you'll invite your friends to join us as we explore practicing our faith this Sunday.

Dinners for Eight for couples and singles – The agenda is good conversation, great food and wonderful fellowship as we get to know each other in a casual setting. Groups meet once a month for three months for dinner. Each month a rotating host offers their home and the main dish at a date/time decided upon by the group. Everyone else brings the sides. We’ll assign three couples/singles; the host(s) for each month will invite a fourth couple to round out the group. After the three months, groups will be re-formed so that new people can be added and get the opportunity to join in the fun. New groups forming now to begin meeting in June. Sign up at Guest Services, online here or contactMike.Ash@cor.org for more information.
Get The Scoop! Are you new to Resurrection Blue Springs? Or perhaps you have attended for a while and want to get more connected. Following both worship services on Sunday, June 7, we will meet at the front of the Sanctuary to chat for a few minutes about what’s coming up and how you might get involved. We hope to see you there!
