"This is heartbreaking..." from David Brickner, Jews for Jesus of San Francisco, California, United States for Wednesday, 3 June 2015
Has your heart ever been broken by the story of a young person, raised in a Bible-believing home but who has wandered away from the faith and now lives in the world?
Maybe that heartbreak is your own because it’s the story of a close family member, perhaps even your own child.
I have seen this myself as family members, Jews for Jesus missionaries and other close Christian friends have wept with me over their own prodigal sons and daughters.
A recent Pew Research Poll reports that, of children raised in Christian homes, two out of five end up walking away from their faith in high school or college. They’re the growing number of “Nones”—people who declare no faith at all.
That’s heartbreak!
I know God is sovereign. And we must trust Him with our children, believing He can bring back those who wander. But I also believe we can do more to tackle this problem head on.
At Jews for Jesus, we’re doing just that.
