Pastor Jason Gant Weekly eNote at The Resurrection United Methodist Church in Olathe, Kansas, United States for Friday, November 6, 2015
Resurrection West,
Right now there are 26 middle school students excited to head out after school on the Metamorphosis Retreat for a great weekend of worship, small groups, outdoor fun, and more at Youthfront Camp West. They join teens from all four campuses of Resurrection to grow as disciples and have a ton of fun! High school Metamorphosis is next weekend and parents - there is still time to attend the Parent Summit at our Leawood campus tomorrow morning. More details at cor.org/parentsummit
This Sunday is going to be an exciting day of worship as we begin a new series and welcome the leadership of our new Director of Worship Arts, Lindsay Hefner. It’s important from time to time to look at our relationship with money and how we are living in regards to that relationship. It can often be challenging and even disheartening. Jesus has some important things to say about this relationship and over the next three weeks I will share meaningful and practical ways to live into a budget, save for the unexpected, and experience the joy in giving - along with great advice from financial experts and testimony from our faith community. I’ll also share how Scharme and I approach our finances and what steps we take with our kids in regards to money. We’ve entitled this series Your Money and Your Life because the two are so intertwined. My hope is that you will make it a priority to be in worship these next three weeks as we seek to understand God’s hopes for our lives and how we relate to our money. We will also be sharing on-line tools each week to support money management.
I want to highlight a few upcoming ways you might grow and serve here. Take a look.

All children from early childhood – 5th grade are invited to be a part of the celebration. Register your child and choose between the 3 pm and 5 pm performance times. Finally, we had 45 families participate in the inaugural season of Upward soccer and it was so much fun! This past Monday night we celebrated the season with our players and families with gifts, a video montage of the season, praise in song led by Lindsay, and a parent tunnel as each player was introduced over the microphone with their nicknames. I thought you’d enjoy a couple of pics. More can be seen on our facebook page by clicking here

We are now over 100 children signed up for Basketball. How cool is that!
I’m really looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday. I’ll open my sermon by celebrating some of the incredible ways God has blessed our community the last year. I'll close with an illustration that reminds us of the valueable role we each play in the building of God's kingdom. We will close each service standing in song declaring these powerful words. You might consider making these words a daily prayer as we approach Sunday together….
When the ground beneath my feet gives way
And I hear the sound of crashing waves
All my world is washing out to sea
I'm hidden safe in the God who never moves
Holding fast to the promise of the truth
That You are holding tighter still to me
The Rock won't move and Your word is strong
The Rock won't move and His love can't be undone
