Thank you to the 234 households who brought their 2016 financial commitment card forward during worship last Sunday. This is a great start to our stewardship campaign and God will surely bless and multiply our giving! If you haven’t yet turned in your pledge for this coming year, please go right now and do so electronically at cor.org/2016giving. Be sure to check the West campus if you pledge electroncially. You can also drop it in the offering plate this Sunday in worship. Extra cards will be in the bulletins. It’s so important you turn in your pledge as soon as possible so we can plan our budgeting, programs, and staffing for 2016. We hope to receive over 400 pledges at West in this campiagn - each one important to the overall mission and vision of our church. It takes all of us responding to God's call to give. May this time be an act of worship that grows our hearts closer to Christ!
This Sunday will be a wonderful day of worship as we conclude the series we’ve been calling Your Money and your Life. We will look at long-term financial planning and investing. We will also hear from experts in the financial field and from members recently retired. What wisdom have they found in this transition that has helped them re-imagine their retirement – in fact, that’s what I’ve tilted the message to seek God’s hopes and dreams for Re-imagining Our Retirement. We will also close our services with a special time of giving thanks and praise for the blessings we share as we approach Thanksgiving day. An information table will be available to find out more of how you might include the church in your will. I'll also share one idea you might use at your Thanksgiving table as a way to give thanks and share light with those closest to you.
Looking for a place to serve and share on Thanskgiving day? We are in great need for people to serve a Thanksgiving Meal at TLC - 120 students and staff will be celebrating Thanksgiving together at TLC in Olathe; let’s serve them Thanksgiving lunch! We need 10-20 adults (age 21 and over) to help make this happen, as well as donations of prepared food. Stop by the JOY in Serving table in the entry to find out more about how you can serve.
Kick off the hollidays with prayer and inspiration at the Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast with Kendall Gammon Wednesday,Nov.25, 7:30-9am, Resurrection West Sanctuary - Enjoy great food (suggested donation of $7/person) and meaningful fellowship, spend time in prayer and praise and hear the powerful testimony of former Chiefs player Kendall Gammon. There will be no Rezlife middle school or high school youth group next Wednesday, November 25th. Gatherings will resume the following week.
KiDS COR Presents Jingle Jam: Re-Wrapped! This family experience will have us all singing and laughing as we are encouraged to keep our eyes open to the needs of others—and to do something about it! God showed us this incredible compassion when he saw our need and sent his very own Son, Jesus. JingleJam is on Saturday, Dec. 12. All children from early childhood – 5th grade are invited to be a part of the celebration. Register your child and choose between the 3 pm and 5 pm production times. Musical and non-musical parts are available. We need youth and adult volunteers, too! Visit cor.org/west/jinglejam to register.
Groundbreaking for phase II on December 13th! We are almost 6 months in on our 3-year giving campaign to the phase II building project. We will break ground at the close of each worship service on Dec. 13th. This will be a great day in the history of Ressurection West as we dream for our future. Children (with each one receiving a KiDS COR hard hat) will be invited to join with their families as we close each worship service out on the ground. We will give praise in song, pray for the future, and leave our mark for the foundation for what is to come! The building is on schedule to be completed to move into in October of next year.
Registration is now open for The Alpha Course, held in the Resurrection West Sanctuary on Sunday afternoons beginning January 10. We will meet at 12:30 pm (following 10:45am worship service) for a catered meal, a live talk and great table discussion. Alpha is for anyone seeking to grow in faith no matter what age and stage in life. There is no homework—just a great first-step beyond worship. Learn more and register at cor.org/west/alpha.
Finally, we welcomed an incredible number of people to our church family at last Monday night's "Pizza with the Pastors" - 60 in total. We will invite our newest members to stand and be recognized in all worship services this Sunday. The next "Coffee with the Pastors" will be Feb. 21. More info and registartion coming in January.
