Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, 6 November 2015 at The Resurrection United Methodist Church Downtowm in Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Friday, November 6, 2015,
Greetings RezDowntowners,What an amazing week it has been in Kansas City! On Tuesday we were privileged with the ability to celebrate a Royals World Series in Grand fashion by participating fully in the Parade Day festivities. It all began at 7:00am as Danny O’Neill and The Roasterie “Tuk Tuk” arrived to begin the coffee brewing process, so that together with a whole bunch of help from volunteers and our amazing staff team, we could hand out free coffee to passers by as a way of sharing God’s grace to everyone who wanted something to drink. By the end of the day we shared 3000 cups of coffee and hosted hundreds of people to an experience of this 30 year parade in the making and a celebration that will last a lifetime. I was so proud of the way that you all came together to employ radical hospitality in the center of the city this week! Thank you! We’ve posted lots of pictures on Facebook, at www.facebook.com/rezdowntown, but I’ve also posted a few below.
This weekend we kick off a new sermon series on Your Money and Your Life. I’ll be preaching live and talking about this relationship that is central and applicable to each of our lives. No matter where you are, what stage of life you are in, or your familiarity with the topic, I’m sure that this sermon series will be one of great importance for your life and fulfillment. I want to invite you to join me this weekend starting Saturday night and then, of course, all day on Sunday as well. If possible, we are encouraging you to worship at a time other than 10:45am as this service is our most crowded service and as a way of being hospitable to first-time visitors, we would love to have you worship at alternative services if possible.

In the meantime, here are several ways to get connected to the life of this church:
This Saturday: KiDS COR Volunteer Extravaganza! Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate KiDS COR and look ahead to the future this Saturday, November 7, 1-3 pm at 1522 McGee! Pastor Scott will talk about the history of KiDS COR at Rez Downtown, and Sarah will share the vision for our children’s ministry. This will also be a day of training and workshops. Whether you’ve helped in KiDS COR for years or are new to serving, you will learn details that you always wanted to know, with plenty of time for questions. We’ll have snacks, drinks, prizes and giveaways! Plus you’ll receive your NEW KiDS COR t-shirt for the year. For more information visitrezdowntown.org/kids
Knitting FaithWork Group will meet Tuesday, November 10, at Wendell Phillips Elementary. They will be delivering over 100 hand-made winter hats for the students.
