Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
It was an exciting week at church as we began a new season of classes. The Parenting Teens class began on Sunday night and we had a full house on Wednesday with Financial Peace University, Listen to My Life and Mini-Music all happening. Tonight will offer the second TGIF for our Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The kids had a great time last week and it's not too late to get in on the fun. Sunday we will also begin a new confirmation class. We currently have 12 students signed up! I'd ask you to keep these students in your prayers over the next 10 weeks as they explore questions of faith. If you missed an opportunity to get involved in one of these classes. We'll be offering Lenten study opportunities very soon so watch the bulletin and enote for more information. And women, don't forget to get signed up for the Women's Conference onFeb. 5 & 6 in Leawood (see below). We hope to have a good showing from our campus and it is always a great experience.
This Sunday Pastor Adam continues our series Building Bridges, Tearing Down Walls by tackling the topic of refugees and undocumented immigrants. This series is addressing important topics at the forefront of the political debates happening now and that tend to divide us as a nation. This series is is not intended to sway anyone in a particular political direction but to allow us the opportunity to look at these issues in light of our faith. We want to encourage dialogue that helps us make a more informed decision when we caste our votes in the coming elections. I am grateful for the amount of time Pastor Adam is spending in research, prayer, and conversation with other experts on these issues in his preparation for each sermon. I applaud his courage to preach into these issues that can be divisive and I encourage you to keep him in prayer as he prepares these messages. I know that I am very grateful to those of you who hold me in prayer each week. It can be a daunting task sometimes to bring the Word of God to the people. I know that it is Pastor Adam's greatest desire to be faithful to God in this and all things and prayer always makes a difference.
As we look for ways to seek justice in our communities, one of the most tangible things we can do is to use our voting power. Yet many of us don’t make a habit of voting in primary and local elections. These elections often have an immediate and profound impact on the mission work we do to combat poverty, set policies and help families thrive within our communities. So here’s how you can help, this Sunday before and after worship we will have non-partisan volunteers ready immediately following worship to help you register to vote in Missouri or Kansas. There will also be information about casting an absentee ballot.
Below you'll find several ways to connect to the life of this community!
