In just twenty-seven days, United Methodists from the across the globe will be gathering in Portland, Oregon for General Conference. As part of the "It's Time" campaign, Reconciling Ministries Network invited you to host fifty screenings of An Act of Love - a documentary featuring Rev. Frank Schaefer and his trial in The United Methodist Church.
Since the campaign launched in November, you've scheduled over seventy screenings across the country with more to come!
Thank you for helping to share this important film that illuminates the cost of love in a church that is willing to punish a father for ministering to his own son.
If you haven't had a chance to see An Act of Love, make sure to find a screening near you!
Nelson Mendoza joins the Reconciling Ministries Network team
Nelson is welcomed to the staff as Communications Associate where he will be working part-time from Phoenix, Arizona to meet the growing needs of the communications team. While he was born in the Philippines, he spent his formative years growing up Virginia. After receiving his undergrad degree in International and Intercultural Communications and Relations he moved to Phoenix where he began his advocacy at an organization doing LGBTQ nondiscrimination policy work.
Nelson successfully helped manage a state-based communications campaign to counter the hateful SB1062 religious freedoms legislation that surged in 2014. Within his activism efforts, Nelson has organized around marriage equality, interfaith community building, race and reconciliation work, and much more.
