Two years later in 1976, out of the ashes of a national scandal, God inspired our founder Charles Colson to create Prison Fellowship. Today on the 40th anniversary of our incorporation, we honor six people who have continued Charles Colson's legacy through their selfless and faithful work to help those affected by crime and incarceration. We invite you to join us today for the video announcement of the 2016 honorees of the Charles Colson Hope Awards. James Ackerman, Prison Fellowship’s new president and CEO along with the ministry leadership team will be honoring people in these five categories:
Advocate of Hope: A person with a record of faithful, unswerving, and winsome advocacy for restorative criminal justice reform.
Restorer of Hope: A person who has compassionately helped bear the burden of the families of the incarcerated and has shared God's love with them.
Servant of Hope: A person who has brought the message of hope, redemption, and restoration into correctional environments.
Champion of Hope: A person whose life has been directly impacted by incarceration who has worked to overcome barriers and make an impact on other's lives.
Legacy of Hope: A person or foundation that has invested faithfully and generously in the restoration of those affected by crime and incarceration.

Last March we announced the creation of the Charles Colson Hope Awards. This new annual program recognizes people who have followed in our founder’s footsteps to faithfully and courageously worked to restore those affected by crime and incarceration. We thank the dozens of people from across the country who submitted some 100 nominations identifying wonderful servant leaders nationwide. We are delighted to invite you to join us for the video announcement of the 2016 honorees of the Charles Colson Hope Awards on Tuesday, August 9, the 40th anniversary of Prison Fellowship's incorporation.
