Resurrection West,
Greetings today from North Carolina. I am here with my family on vacation before the school year excitement begins. We have had some great adventures hiking to waterfalls and white-water rafting. While away on vacation, I have been mindful of our staff team at RezWest. Together this week they began studying the book of Romans in our Tuesday staff development time. I’m reading along with them in my morning devotional time while away. I’m so grateful to their commitment to lead by example of what it means to become deeply committed Christians. They are committed, selfless, caring, and fun people to serve with. Would you take a moment and pray for them by name and then express your gratitude with a note or kind word? They are working very hard right now preparing to launch all the fall programs including discipleship groups, missions, kids and teens ministries, upward sports, care night, a fourth worship service, and more! You can see the staff team list at the conclusion of the eNote below.
I know our students did a wonderful job leading alongside Rick Webb, Director of Student Ministries, last Sunday in worship. You heard testimonials, an inspiring message, and witnessed the next generation leading all aspects of our worship services. Thanks to our amazing teens and their commitment to serve God here at RezWest!
This Sunday Pastor Chris will be preaching as we conclude the Art of Neighboring series. He will no doubt bring some humor and inspiration as we look at neighboring through our call to mission work in our neighborhoods and across the world. Make plans to serve tomorrow at Mega Mission. It’s going to be an amazing day as we serve beside our partner school - Ridgeview Elementary, details below. I believe there are still spots open on our Honduras mission team in January led by Dan Strempke. Join me and the rest of the team serving in Honduras this winter!
Back in worship on July 24, I preached kicking off the Art of Neighboring series. As part of my sermon, I asked everyone in attendance to fill out a survey to help us as we approach the need to add a third worship service in the morning. This is so important as we hope to welcome new guests to our worship services and make room for all. We had hundreds complete the survey. If you were unable to fill out the survey thatSunday, you can fill it out by following this link by clicking here.

Serve with the Backpacks Ministry or Become a Backpack Angel - Did you know that over 90% of the children at our partner school, Ridgeview Elementary, qualify for free or reduced lunches? Families at risk for hunger struggle to provide children with the nutrition they need to thrive. As a result, many children come to school too distracted by their empty stomachs to focus on doing well in school. The Backpacks for Hunger program provides needed food to children who would otherwise not receive adequate nutrition during the weekends or school breaks. There are many ways to help. You can pick up food, fill bags, deliver bags and/or assist with administrative tasks. For more information on serving, please contact our RezWest Backpacks Coordinator, Jill Crockett, at rezwestbackpacks@gmail.com. You can also help a child at one of Resurrection’s partner schools get the nutrition they need by being a "Backpack Angel". A gift of $200 will support a child for the entire school year. You can help a child now with a monthly or yearly monetary contribution. Electronic payment options are available through August 14.
