Have you ever wondered what God wants you to do? Growing up I was pretty positive that to be a good Christian, you had to be some sort of missionary. I mean, God put me on this earth to be salt and light, right? (Matthew 5:13-16) So what better way than to go do that full time? And as I got older I started realizing that that wasn't my true calling. In fact, for most of us, going overseas isn't our calling. Our calling is much different. Yes we're supposed to be salt and light. Yes we are supposed to fulfill The Great Commission. (Matthew 28:16-20) But that doesn't mean that we need to go overseas. In fact, our main goal is to bring glory to God. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
One of the best ways you can glorify God is to be a faithful worker. Colossians 3:23 says "Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." And this was said to slaves!
Our lives are a reflection of God and the diligence in which we work in whatever profession God has given us, whether it be garbage man or President, shapes the way people view God. So let's work full hearted for Him in everything we do.
