The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "I
mportant to God" Bible Reading: Psalm 8:1-9 for Tuesday, 6 September 2016
Psalm 8:1 (0) For the leader. On the gittit. A psalm of David:
2 (1) Adonai! Our Lord! How glorious
is your name throughout the earth!
The fame of your majesty
spreads even above the heavens!
3 (2) From the mouths of babies and infants at the breast
you established strength because of your foes,
in order that you might silence
the enemy and the avenger.
4 (3) When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and stars that you set in place —
5 (4) what are mere mortals, that you concern yourself with them;
humans, that you watch over them with such care?
6 (5) You made him but little lower than the angels,
you crowned him with glory and honor,
7 (6) you had him rule what your hands made,
you put everything under his feet —
8 (7) sheep and oxen, all of them,
also the animals in the wilds,
9 (8) the birds in the air, the fish in the sea,
whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

Many people today think that people who are old or weak or sick are not important. But in our Bible verses today, we are reminded that God thinks all people are important.
God sent Jesus to the earth to show us that we are important to Him. 1 Peter 3:18a tells us, "Christ himself suffered when he died for you, and with that one death he paid for your sins. He was not guilty, but he died for people who are guilty. He did this to bring all of you to God." It doesn't matter how strong you are, what color your skin is or how smart you are. God thinks you are important, and He sent Jesus to die for you!
When you see other people today, don't judge them by the way they look or how much money they have or the kind of clothes they wear. Instead, remember that God loves them and gave His Son to die so they can have their sins forgiven and live with Him forever.[BL]
"Why do you care so much for humans? Why do you even notice them? But you made them almost like gods and crowned them with glory and honor."[Psalm 8:4b-5]
PRAYER: God, please forgive me when I judge people in the wrong way. Thank You for loving everyone. In Jesus' name. Amen.
