"For God so loved the world..." Here's the Bible Minute.
When you talk about the love of God, you can't compare it to a mother's love or a father's love. You can't compare it to the love between a husband and a wife--because this is the love of God and there's just nobody comparable to God. John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." This is not just God befriending the world. This is not God giving counsel to the world. It isn't God liking the world. This is love, l-o-v-e. This is God's love. The depth of God's love, then, is based on the character of God.
