Hurricane Matthew is going to hit Haiti tonight.
Having lived through a number of devastating storms here, I want to alert Partners In Health supporters to the gravity of what is likely to follow.
There will not only be acute illness and injury, but also flash floods and loss of infrastructure. I urge anyone who is following the path of Matthew to think about supporting Partners In Health.
Your emergency gift helps families prepare for the worst of this hurricane and supplies urgent health care for those most in need. Please give $15 or more now.
It's the region's most powerful storm in nearly a decade, and we're now preparing for the worst.
It's already raining in Haiti, and the hurricane is moving closer every minute, packing winds 130-mph and over. Certain parts of the Haitian countryside could see downpours of up to 40 inches.
Now, families are urged to find safe housing, stockpile food, and locate clean water.
Your gift supports these precautions and prepares emergency health care so we can respond when every minute counts.
Please, give today: http://act.pih.org/hurricane-matthew
I also want to remind friends of PIH that Haiti remains in the middle of what is one of the world's most devastating cholera epidemics. Food insecurity and water insecurity will be worsened by any serious storm.
As the situation develops, we will be sure to keep you updated.
Gratefully,
Paul
