WEEK 6: GUIDED BY THE SPIRIT
Last week, we discussed the importance of being a contemplative leader, a leader who shows up to self, others, and God. Contemplative leaders are present, compassionate, discerning, wise, and resilient. They demonstrate love to all – to those who embrace change AND those who resist it. A spiritual leader like this is positioned to lead the church through system changes and culture shifts. As Paul shared with the Galatians, we must remember the “tradition behind the tradition,” God is making all things new. A contemplative leader can help the congregation see beyond its traditional ways and to imagine new areas of mission and ministry. This happens through prayer, scripture reading, conversation, and a study of the congregation’s own narrative. How can we help others see where the Spirit is guiding us?
In this week’s study of God Unbound, Dr. Heath encourages leaders to help their congregations pay attention to the Spirit.
