Message from the Executive Vice President
Greetings to friends of Saint Paul! The heart of Saint Paul is the classroom, and the
First the story. Rev. Dr. Allan Boesak's book, Kairos, Crisis, and Global Apartheid: The Challenge to Prophetic Resistance is one text in a course about theology from Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Students are working online this week and are guided by resources about theology across the African continent and about Apartheid and post-Apartheid life in South Africa. Boesak's text creates an occasion for online discussion.
Dr. Boesak proposes that the world needs a kairos consciousness, a prophetic and truth-telling alertness to the critical moments when we should see, understand, and act wherever suffering and injustice threaten humanity. He also speaks about kairos theology, an expression of resistance to injustice, which he calls global Apartheid. Students are already engaged in thoughtful online discussion about God's work in history and God's work through the faithful, which is the source of Christian resistance.
Second the event. You are invited the Saint Paul Wayne E. Drake Peace Lecture to hear Rev. Dr. Allan Boesak at
Dr. Boesak will also be preaching in chapel at 11:07 a.m. in Wesley Covenant
You are always well at Saint Paul School of Theology, and we look forward to including you in the discovery of God's work in the world.
Dr. Nancy R. Howell
Executive Vice President
