The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "ConflictsBible Reading: Matthew 18:15-20 for Sunday, 23 October 2016
Matthew 18:15 “Moreover, if your brother commits a sin against you, go and show him his fault — but privately, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won back your brother. 16 If he doesn’t listen, take one or two others with you so that every accusation can be supported by the testimony of two or three witnesses.[Matthew 18:16 Deuteronomy 19:15] 17 If he refuses to hear them, tell the congregation; and if he refuses to listen even to the congregation, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax-collector. 18 Yes! I tell you people that whatever you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. 19 To repeat, I tell you that if two of you here on earth agree about anything people ask, it will be for them from my Father in heaven. 20 For wherever two or three are assembled in my name, I am there with them.”

We all face conflicts in life. Even Christians do not always agree with each other. In our Bible Reading, Jesus gives us a plan for resolving conflicts with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Verse 15 says, "If your brother or sister in God's family does something wrong, go and tell them what they did wrong." This shows us that we need to do something to resolve our conflicts. If going to a brother or sister alone doesn't solve the problem, then we are to take other Christians with us. And if that doesn't help, then we are to "treat them as you would treat someone who does not know God or who is a tax collector" (verse 17b). We should not hate that person. Instead we should show them God's love and grace.
We should work hard to resolve our conflicts with other Christians. God will be pleased when we settle our problems using Jesus' plan.[DVH*]
"If your brother or sister in God's family does something wrong, warn them. If they are sorry for what they did, forgive them."[Luke 17:3b]

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me show Your love and grace to all my brothers and sisters in Christ. In His name. Amen.
