I wanted to share a story that not only warmed my heart, but served as a great reminder to be thankful to God.
I recently spent some quality time with my granddaughter. We went to an ice cream shop and she wanted a vanilla cone. When I went to pay, the lady behind the counter said, “If it’s for her, it’s free.”
After Norah had eaten most of it, we went back up to the counter and she told the lady, “Thank you for my ice cream cone.” The lady almost started to cry, she was so happy for the sweet thank-you from my granddaughter.
That experience got me thinking that the Lord probably appreciates our “thank-you’s” to Him at least as much. This is a great season to remember and give thanks to Him. And for more than just ice cream.
What are you most thankful to the Lord for today? Have you told Him?
In ancient Israel, giving thanks was more than just an afterthought. It was a tradition that went far beyond mere words. Genuine thanksgiving was most sincerely expressed through obedience to the command of Scripture to give special thank offerings to God (Leviticus 7:12).
