Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, November 4, 2016 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown  of Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Greetings RezDowntowners,
It is great to write you today. I hope this message finds you doing well. I can’t believe we’re already into the month of November. Fall is upon us. This weekend we’re kicking off a new series of sermons entitled ’21.’ We’ll be taking a focused look at the 21 Questions John Wesley asked regularly to deepen his life of faith. They say it takes three weeks before something becomes a habit, and so for the next three weeks we are hoping to make a habit of growing deeper in our life and love of Christ. This is going to be a great sermon series and I’m excited to host a corresponding study on Tuesday nights for all who want to attend in the hopes that we might experience God’s transformative grace in ways that will change the world!
As we continue to dive deeper into the fall, I want to remind you in the event that you weren’t able to be in worship last few weekends, we want to remind you to remember to turn in your commitment cards this weekend in worship. This year we’re inviting everyone to step up in their commitments in giving, growing, worshiping, serving and sharing. Returning a commitment card is not primarily about the church, but it’s an expression of our faith in and gratitude to God. It is an act of worship of God and a means of living out the Good Life. This weekend we’ll have commitment cards available in the attendance folders or you can simply give online by clicking here (be sure to select 'Resurrection Downtown').
Lastly, I wanted to share some good news coming out of our worship and creative collective, Glory Revival. A few Fridays ago, Glory Revival released The LIstening Heart, a new project from members of Glory Revival . "Before I Knew Love ..." is the first of four EP's that will be released this year that speaks to the creative collective of volunteer worship leaders, artists and musicians who are seeking to transform hearts through creativity, artistry and authentically fresh expressions of worship. Go listen, download, and share with your friends! iTunes: http://hyperurl.co/psg9r6

In the meantime, I have to get running because I'll be leading at the Healing House tonight, alongside Glory Revival as we walk through How God Guides Us. Then on Saturday we'll be hosting our Helping Hands Construction Ministry all morning long as we seek to renew and rebuild some of their buidlings...it's going to be a great weekend! Remember that we 'Fall Back' this Sunday...everybody will gain an hour on Sunday morning, so be sure to get your rest and then consider connecting with our community in a variety of ways coming up soon:

Join us as we explore “The Gift of Being Yourself” The Sacred Call to Self-Discovery by David G. Benner. The book can be ordered at your favorite site or store or on Amazon. The class will be located at 1508 Grand, if childcare is needed, please check them into KiDSCOR at 1522 McGee. Upcoming “21” Study with Pastor Scott. It’s widely known that it takes 21 days to develop a habit. On Tuesday, November 8, at 1508 Grand, be a part of this 3-week study, where each participant will have access to a 21-day devotional complete with daily reading, personal reflection questions, and practical ideas for living out our faith. The Wesley Challenge content is based upon the famous 21 questions of John and Charles Wesley’s notably nicknamed group, The Holy Club. The questions help us examine our relationship to God, Self, and Others. The purpose of the Wesley 21 Day Challenge is to go beyond mere words and develop the spiritual habits that lead us toward a thriving Christian life. To register go to cor.org/downtown/classes or for questions contact Kelly.Sisney@cor.org.
