Dear Friends,
I spent the weekend preaching and teaching at a beautiful church retreat center in Michigan. I was the first rabbi they have had in 120 years of existence!
The setting was rustic and magnificent. The wind blew gently. I could hear the waves at night. We did a vespers service at sunset.
But the physical beauty of the location was matched only by the spiritual beauty.
We prayed together. We studied together. I saw, once again, that God is on the move in our world today. You are part of that movement, as you teach and learn from our sacred scripture.
I’ll have some audio and video of a few of the weekend talks soon.
In the meanwhile, here is a video of a teaching from last week’s reading from the Torah discussing the fascinating biblical character of Pinchas, who fought idolatry, but might have taken things a bit too far.
