Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Nazarene Publishing House [The Foundry Publishing House] in Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The Global Church of the Nazarene for Sunday, 6 August 2017 - "Presence Or Promises" by: Fred Prince - Psalm 125:1-5
Psalm 125:
1 (0) A song of ascents:
(1) Those who trust in Adonai
are like Mount Tziyon,
which cannot be moved
but remains forever.
2 Yerushalayim!
Mountains all around it!
Thus Adonai is around his people
henceforth and forever.
3 For the scepter of wickedness
will not rule the inheritance of the righteous,
so that the righteous will not themselves
turn their hands to evil.
4 Do good, Adonai, to the good,
to those upright in their hearts.
5 But as for those who turn aside
to their own crooked ways,
may Adonai turn them away,
along with those who do evil.
Shalom on Isra’el!

What would happen if our mindset was that more than the promises of God I want the presence of God? We all love the promises of God and want to experience them: “His peace in the midst of the storm,” “When great temptation comes He will provide a way out,” “Perfect love drives out fear,” “More than conquerors,” “His protection,” or “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” How often do we ask God to do in our lives what He has promised? After all, He is not only a promise maker but a promise keeper.
However, what if instead of asking for His promises, we became desperate for God’s presence and that is what we sought? Scripture tells us if we seek Him with all of our heart He will be found. What would happen if we made Jesus the hub of our life, where everything in our life revolved around Him and what He wanted for our relationships, our challenges, and our hurts? What if we sought Him, His presence, with all of our hearts? What would happen? We would experience the promises and blessings of God.
Are you seeking His promises or His presence?
Hymn for Today:
"I Surrender All" by Judson W. Van De Venter
1. All to Jesus I surrender,
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.
Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
2. All to Jesus I surrender,
Make my, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel Thy Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.
Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
3. All to Jesus I surrender,
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power,
Let Thy blessing fall on me.
Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.
Thought for Today:
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
grace and truth attend you.
How happy are the people who know the joyful shout!
They walk in the light of your presence, Adonai.[Psalm 89:15].
