The Deaf Devo - The Deaf Mission of Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States for Tuesday, 10 October 2017 "Psalm 119 (1)"
Psalm 119:
א (Alef)
1 How happy are those whose way of life is blameless,
who live by the Torah of Adonai!
2 How happy are those who observe his instruction,
who seek him wholeheartedly!
3 They do nothing wrong
but live by his ways.
4 You laid down your precepts
for us to observe with care.
5 May my ways be steady
in observing your laws.
6 Then I will not be put to shame,
since I will have fixed my sight on all your mitzvot.
7 I thank you with a sincere heart
as I learn your righteous rulings.
8 I will observe your laws;
don’t completely abandon me!

Today we will begin a series of devotions based on Psalm 119. This psalm has more verses than any other chapter in the Bible. If you look at this chapter in a printed Bible, you will see that it is divided into 22 sections. Each section begins with a different letter from the Hebrew alphabet.
Psalm 119:1-2 gives us some important news about obeying God. "Great blessings belong to those who live pure lives! They follow the Lord's teachings. Great blessings belong to those who follow his rules! They seek him with all their heart." God blesses us when we obey Him. And following God makes us happy.
The Bible tells us that all people in the world have sinned and disobeyed God. But the writer of this psalm reminds us that God is fair and good. He has given us a way to have our sins forgiven. This way is through His Son, Jesus. Jesus died on the cross so that our sins can be forgiven and we can live forever with God.
Do you want to be happy? Then follow God's plan for your life. Read and study God's plan in the Bible. Then love and obey Him with all your heart!
