Pastor Penny Ellwood's Enote for Friday, 18 May 2018 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Blue Springs in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States
Friday, May 18, 2018
Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs!

I saw a flash of orange and black this morning from my “time out” chair so I quickly put out a clementine. I’m hopeful it will entice one of these feathered beauties to come a little closer. I love this time of year. These glimpses of God’s creative power, which are so evident everywhere if you stop to pay attention, make me feel gratitude to our generous and loving God.
They help me keep a hopeful perspective and remember that God is with us when I hear about things like the shooting in the parking lot at our Leawood Campus last night. What should have been a night of celebration ended with an act of violence and fear. The shooting appeared to be related to the Center High School Graduation Ceremony, which was being hosted in the Leawood Sanctuary. One person (a recent graduate) was injured, and as far as we know the injuries are not life threatening. Please pray for the student who was shot, for his classmates, their families, the administrators and the staff of Center High School who were all shaken up by this unfortunate incident.
Pastor Adam will share more information later today in his enote and I’d surmise this weekend’s worship. We'll be concluding our series on What Would Jesus Say by focusing on what Jesus might say to our future generations and specifically our graduates. At the conclusion of worship service we'll show a montage of our graduates and have a special gift for every graduate in attendance.
If you have a college or High School student graduating this spring this would be a great sermon for them to hear. We would also love to include their photo with those of our other graduates to be shown in worship. You can send these here.
I hope you have a great Friday and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
Pastor Penny
