Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living - The Global of the Nazarene's Foundry Publishing House in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Monday, 9 July 2018 "The King and His Kingdom" by Donabel Martin - Jeremiah 23:1-11.
Jeremiah 23:1 “Oh no! The shepherds are destroying and scattering the sheep in my pasture!” says Adonai. 2 Therefore this is what Adonai, the God of Isra’el, says against the shepherds who shepherd my people: “You have scattered my flock, driven them away and not taken care of them. So I will ‘take care of’ you because of your evil deeds,” says Adonai. 3 “I myself will gather what remains of my flock from all the countries where I have driven them and bring them back to their homes, and they will be fruitful and increase their numbers. 4 I will appoint shepherds over them who will shepherd them; then they will no longer be afraid or disgraced; and none will be missing,” says Adonai.
5 “The days are coming,” says Adonai
when I will raise a righteous Branch for David.
He will reign as king and succeed,
he will do what is just and right in the land.
6 In his days Y’hudah will be saved,
Isra’el will live in safety,
and the name given to him will be
Adonai Tzidkenu [Adonai our righteousness].
7 “Therefore,” says Adonai, “the day will come when people no longer swear, ‘As Adonai lives, who brought the people of Isra’el out of the land of Egypt,’ 8 but, ‘As Adonai lives, who brought the descendants of the house of Isra’el up from the land to the north’ and from all the countries where I drove them. Then they will live in their own land.”
9 Concerning the prophets:
My heart within me is broken,
all my bones are shaking;
I am like a drunk,
like a man overcome by wine,
because of Adonai,
because of his holy words.
10 For the land is full of adulterers;
because of a curse the land is in mourning —
the desert pastures have dried up.
Their course is evil, their power misused.
11 “Both prophet and cohen are godless;
In my own house I find their wickedness,” says Adonai.

Chaos, devastation, lawlessness, greediness, every man for himself—this is the way of the world. Then the WORD of the Lord is spoken through Jeremiah, “The days are coming… When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch… The Lord Our Righteous Savior.” Finally a word of hope, finally a break from the darkness.
We live in a world where it is easy to find reason to be discouraged and give up, reason to blame our government, institutions, and even the church. But the very God who promised a Righteous Savior to his people in the days of Jeremiah is still promising—that The Lord Our Righteous Savior is with us. Jesus has come and continues to rule as sovereign, righteous and just.
But the work of righteousness, justice, and hope is not left alone for the King to do. We are citizens of God’s Kingdom, therefore we are called to live in the Way of the King. If we are complacent, if we don’t care then we are no better than in the days of Jeremiah.
How are you participating daily in “Your Kingdom Come?”

Hymn for Today: "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby.

1. Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.
Refrain: Rescue the perishing,
care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
2. Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
waiting the penitent child to receive;
plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently.
He will forgive if they only believe.
Refrain: Rescue the perishing,
care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
3. Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
chords that are broken will vibrate once more.
Refrain: Rescue the perishing,
care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.
4. Rescue the perishing, duty demands it.
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
back to the narrow way patiently win them,
tell the poor wanderer a Savior has died.
Refrain: Rescue the perishing,
care for the dying;
Jesus is merciful,
Jesus will save.

Thought for Today: Your arrows are sharp. The people fall under you,
as they penetrate the hearts of the king’s enemies.
Your throne, God, will last forever and ever;
you rule your kingdom with a scepter of equity.
 (Psalm 45:6)! (Complete Jewish Bible)).Please pray: That many people in Madagascar will come to know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKadosh.
