It’s been an incredible week of mission and ministry! The picnic last Sunday evening was a fun, engaging, and joy-filled event. Thanks to everyone who attended and thanks to so many volunteers that helped make it happen. You can view pics from the event by clicking here to connect to our facebook page. What a wonderful way to celebrate our 8th birthday at West, and this after a HUGE day in worship – over 1000 in attendance, plus another 225 in KiDS COR! WOW! It was our largest ever 5pm service with 233 in attendance. Please consider attending the 5pm. We have lots of room to grow at that service! Many of you commented on the power of the music and the inspiring message by Pastor Adam. We continue with The Power of Words series this Sunday. I was visiting with a family this week whose 8-yr old had taped her card on the inside of her locker at school. Her friends were following this example as she shared the cards with them. I am so proud of our young people and how they live out their faith here at West!
Speaking of young people, we kicked off middle school and high school youth groups this past Wednesday night with over 125 in attendance! Both youth groups will continue meeting weekly as an opportunity for connection, conversation, games, fun, growing in discipleship, and worship. Invite your friends! KiDS COR is a great place to serve.
It is not just about teaching, it is about relationships. We would love to have more loving, caring and committed teachers to serve on Sunday. Will you prayerfully consider if God may be calling you to work with children on Sunday morning? Nursery, Early Childhood, Elementary, and Matthew’s Ministry --- each area has places to serve in all three services –9:00, 10:45 and 5:00. Come join the Rez West KiDS COR team and have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children that will last for all eternity! Resurrection West Saturday Morning Women's Group - Join us Saturday mornings at 8:30am: Sept. 6, 20; Oct. 4, 18;Nov. 1, 15, for breakfast, fellowship and serving as we study Unglued by New York Times bestselling author Lysa Terkeurst. Terkeurst admits that she, like most women, has had experiences with becoming emotionally unglued. What do we do with these raw emotions? TLC Depression Help - Pastor Chris and the Resurrection West Care team will lead this amazing, evidence-based program which guides people through the process of making lifestyle changes proven to alleviate symptoms of depression. The group will meet in the downstairs classroom at West from 6:45-8:15pm, eight Tuesday nights, Sept. 9 - Oct. 28. Childcare is available. The author shares inspiring stories from her own life along with compelling biblical insights as she describes what it means to partner with God in all decisions and actions. Participants will learn to discern the voice of God, say yes to God’s call, see what whole-hearted obedience looks like on a daily basis and give themselves to God.

Saturday Morning Men's Group Fall Session kicks off Sept. 6, with a study of Uncommon Marriage by Tony Dungy. This study is a playbook for strengthening and improving your relationships! Explore life in Alpha - Do you have questions about the Christian faith? Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, friendly environment. Alpha at Resurrection West meets for 10-weeks starting Sunday, Sept. 21st, immediately following the 5pm worship service. Register at rezwest.org/alpha Childcare is available
Our staff team recently changed over to a new email server. Out IT team has done an incredible job managing this transition, however we have discovered that some emails may have been lost in the transition. Our expectation and practice is to respond to your emails within 48 hours (excluding days off, vacation, and Church trips).

Finally, my daughter Hailey and Pastor Adam have both challenged me to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I am looking forward to meeting this challenge.
