Keith Larkin's student is dying

Sent by Erin Cottrell, Tuesday, September 30:
One of Keith's students - a sophomore named Morgan Ealom - is dying of cancer. She was out of school most of last week, was discharged from Children's Mercy yesterday and is at home with hospice. Her parents are Marcia and Michael.

Barbara Borgelt's son is on dialysis

Sent by Barbara Borgelt, Thursday, October 1:
My younger son is at Shawnee-Mission hospital in the ICU.  He had had another bout with his pancreas and in turn his diabetes.  When he went in to the ER on Tuesday, his blood sugar was 924.  His potassium was 8+.  Of course they immediately put him on dialysis and have managed to lower his blood sugar through an insulin IV drip.  His numbers were better so they discontinued the dialysis for a day to see if his own body would take over.  He did pretty well for a day, but now his creatinine level is beginning to creep up so he's in for another round of dialysis.  He's still in ICU and will be for another few days.

Erin Cottrell's colleague: father-in-law has cancer

Sent by Erin Cottrell, Friday, October 3:
I have been asked by one of my colleagues, Lisa Kress, if I am a praying woman, and if so, to add her father-in-law to my prayer list and my church prayer lists:

John Kress - Father and grandfather, started having a swollen neck a few weeks ago. He visited KU Med yesterday has just been told by doctors there that he has a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer - the tumor is growing rapidly and is inoperable. Most thyroid cancers are curable, but this one is not. The family is shocked and has been catapulted in making decisions that just a day ago they had no idea they would be making, i.e. this man is not elderly in the sense that this was expected or unsurprising.
CHRISTINE ROCK is featured in the current edition of the Olathe District School News. She's involved in an internship with Black and Veatch: the 21st Century Aerospace and Engineering program. You can read about it by downloading the most recent PDF on the School News website. The article says Christine "had a little nudge from her dad." Do tell.
