We're reading Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth, Chs. 2 and 3, pp. 17-33.
I look forward to our usual stimulating discussion.
1 What is your reaction to the image of Jesus that Aslan presents?
2. He states that Mark wasn’t interested in Jesus’ birth nor his resurrection. His message was that Jesus was the Messiah. So, who is this Messiah? What did Messiah mean to them? What does he mean to you?
3. Describe the village of Nazareth at this time. What’s the problem with Jesus being born in Nazareth?
5. What was Judea like politically when Jesus was born What was going on?
6.What fostered the apocalyptic ideas which permeated the Jewish thought at the time?
7. Aslan states that Matthew and Luke’s account of some of the events were not history but myth. Do you think most Christians accept this? How about you?
