Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living from The Global Church of the Nazarene of Lenexa, Kansas, United States - "The Gifts of Prayer and Witness" Philippians 1:2-11

Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living from The Global Church of the Nazarene of Lenexa, Kansas, United States - "The Gifts of Prayer and Witness" Scripture: Philippians 1:2 Grace to you and shalom from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
3 I thank my God every time I think of you. 4 Whenever I pray for all of you I always pray with joy, 5 because you have shared in proclaiming the Good News from the very first day until now. 6 And I am sure of this: that the One who began a good work among you will keep it growing until it is completed on the Day of the Messiah Yeshua. 7 It is right for me to think this way about you all, because I have you on my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and establishing the Good News, you are all sharing with me in this privileged work. 8 God can testify how I long for all of you with the deep affection of the Messiah Yeshua.
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may more and more overflow in fullness of knowledge and depth of discernment, 10 so that you will be able to determine what is best and thus be pure and without blame for the Day of the Messiah, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Yeshua the Messiah — to the glory and praise of God.

"The Gifts of Prayer and Witness" by Author: Larry R. Morris
Some people bring a smile to your face when you think about them. Memories of their words and actions lift you out of whatever circumstances you are in and they transport you to a better place. I’ve had some friends like that. You’ve probably had them too.
The Philippian church was that to the apostle Paul. As you recall Paul was in prison when he wrote to them. As a Roman prisoner he was dependent upon the good will of others to survive. Without their love and support he would have starved. The church at Philippi knew about Paul’s situation and responded to his needs (Philippians 4:15).
Paul did not have any to repay the gifts he received from them, except by his prayer and instruction. While they might not seem like a lot at that time, those prayers and letters have served untold millions of people from that time to this. In reality they were the most priceless of gifts exchanged.
There are times we may feel like we have nothing to give those we love most. Remember that your prayer and witness are priceless gifts when placed in God’s hands. Who are you sharing those gifts with today?
Hymn for Today: "
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" by Lilias Trotter:
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
1. O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
2. Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion
For more than conquerors we are!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
3. His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
