Resurrection West,
You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
These words from Peter’s first epistle speak boldly into the kingdom building within us as we offer spiritual sacrifices in Christ’s name. This Sunday we continue in our capital campaign series - Branching Out: Making Room For All. If you missed this past Sunday, view my sermon by clicking here where we asked the question; what will our legacy be at Resurrection West? You will see the detailed plans, concept imagery of the inside of our phase II building, a very cute video sketch from our children, and powerful testimony from the Carey family.
On Sunday I will be preaching about our call to sacrifice in response to Christ’s great sacrifice for all. We will be filled with joy(and cuteness) as we view the sequel to our kid’s video sketch, testimony from the Yost family, and witness our youngest lead the way in offering spiritual sacrifices as they bring forward their decorated crosses from KiDS COR Sunday school time (we have plenty of extra crosses for every child in the case you didn’t pick one up last week. Each child will have time to decorate their cross if they haven’t yet done so during KiDS COR Sunday school before bringing them forward in worship). Scharme and I look forward to sharing what our gift will be to this campaign. I am excited to have my wife share her heart with you and the impact God is having through Resurrection West on our own family! We will share in all three services.
It’s been an incredible campaign so far with over 1.5 million committed by our first 40 households. Two of those households told me last Sunday they are revisiting their gift because they feel God calling them to sacrifice more. Isn’t that amazing! Remember that every gift is needed and its not about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice. The Holy Spirit is at work and next week you will receive a packet including a letter from me, a detailed informational booklet about the building, a guide to giving, and a commitment card to return on Sunday, April 26th when we will all bring them forward together to the altar of God during worship! Our children’s choir ensemble will be leading us in song exemplifying the future God is calling us into just before our moment of commitment.
This Sunday and next are so important in the life of our church. I expect every individual and household that claims Resurrection West as their church family to be present unless sick or out of town! When we look back years from now, we will remember these few weeks when God moved among us in transformative ways!
Thank you to those who have led the way in their advanced commitments as well as the 21 different members who wrote for Branching Out devotional booklets. If you missed picking up a devotional booklet, you can read them electronically here at thebranchingout.rezwest.org. You can also read the latest staff blog by our Director of Worship Arts, Nathan Brooks, as well as earlier blogs by other staff members.
We’ve got some great mission and ministry coming up. Check these great opportunities to grow.
