Today's Devotional: The Upper Room Daily Devotion "A Slug’s Lesson" for Saturday, 25 April 2015 - Scripture: Matthew 5:13 “You are salt for the Land. But if salt becomes tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except being thrown out for people to trample on.
14 “You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Likewise, when people light a lamp, they don’t cover it with a bowl but put it on a lampstand, so that it shines for everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.
Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.[Matthew 5:16 (NIV)]
I have always liked to observe the world around me, especially the tiny things. I remember one day I noticed marks on the wall that gleamed in the light. I realized that a slug had passed there. I did not need to see the slug because its tracks were there as evidence.
I began to reflect on this observation. I wondered if my spiritual life was as clear to others as the marks left by the slug. As Christians, we must leave marks of God’s love in our journey. Our walk must reflect that Jesus is our Savior, showing the love and mercy of Jesus Christ to those around us. What a wonderful lesson I learned by observing the tracks of this slug! Wherever we walk, we can leave the marks of Christians, saved by Jesus Christ.
